About this audiobook

Dominic, of the Dragonseeker lineage—one of the most powerful of the Carpathian lines—is desperate to go to the very heart of the enemy camp and learn their plans. There’s only one way to do so: ingest the parasitic blood of a vampire. He knows that it is a mission from which there is no return. With little time before the blood takes effect, he’ll get the information he needs, relay it to the leader of the Carpathians, and go out fighting. There is no more honorable way to end his life.

Solange Sangria is one of the last of the jaguar people, a royal pureblood, a dying species that cannot recover from bad decisions made over hundreds of years. She has long been alone, fighting to save the remaining shapeshifters from the hands of Brodrick the Terrible: her own father, who slaughtered her family and everyone she loved. Wounded and weary, she plans one last battle, hoping to stop the man who has made an alliance with the vampires, accepting that she will not come out alive.

They are two warriors who have lived their lives alone. Now, at the end of their time, they find each other—an obstacle neither saw coming, and which neither can hope to ignore.

I love every bit of this book and all that both characters went through. Like the fire and came through, although were burned by the fire by their losses and sufferings. Solange and Dominic! Have been giving so much, toward their race, and people and mother earth brought joy, hope, and love for them. They brought all their enemies to justice.

Fantastic as always but this one has a few surprising twist.

Excellent as usual. I love Solange and Dominic. The best. I cannot wait to listen to Zacharias' story.

I really loved this book. This is my favorite kind of love story. A lot of time was spent developing their relationship with both their thoughts and the dialogue. There wasn't any fighting or trust issues. The story surrounding their romance was interesting and kept the series moving forward. Both of the characters were extremely strong individuals, but also very lonely people who made each other extremely happy by being together. They were both warriors who fought to protect the weak. I enjoyed the short little poems at the beginning of each story.

This was by far my least favorite of the Christine Feehan's Carpathian Dark Series. To me it was very repetitive and predictable. The surprising twists at the end were its saving grace that caused me give it 3 stars.

I will continue to read the series as there are several characters I want to follow. As well as the hints that were revealed at the end of Dark Peril. Not to mention I generally do love this series and am not ready to give up on it yet!

This is one of the better books in the series, with the very driven and ferocious Solange of the Jaguar race fighting to protect the women of her people. Dominic also proved to be an extremely likable male, and this book is also important to the series story arc. The romance has a lot of the dom/sub thing going on, but in a saner and less obnoxious way than when it shows up in a couple of the other books.

Not enough about Solange & furthering the Carpathian vs. Malinov's plotline. Waaaaaay too many pages of sex and them discussing their feelings for each other.

I don't really know how to feel about this book. Eventually it did draw me in--the second half was much better than the first, in my opinion--but on the whole, I don't feel that warm-fuzzy feeling that you get after finishing a truly good romance. Dominic was a good character--I like that he acknowledges that he needs a warrior woman. Solange...I don't know. For her, I thought there was too much back and forth. I'm ok--no, I'm not ok. Some of that, but give me a reason and make it convincing. And the character spends so much time thinking about her family, and how everything she does is for them, etc...but we never get a scene with them (except in the "deleted scenes" at the end, which are completely unnecessary. It's a book--either keep them in, or take them out.) and I think this is a huge failing of Ms. Feehan's. So, a three is all I can give this.

I really liked the story of Dominic and Solange. He was introduced to us during Dark Demon and she has featured in most of the Dark stories from South America. I enjoy the whole Dark Series but I do have to admit they are repetitive and many scenes, conversations, and descriptions appear as though they have been cut and pasted from previous stories. But the stories and backgrounds of the heroines brings uniqueness to each book, makes them worth reading and keeps me coming back for more. Solange is no exception. She is a shifter with magiacal abilities that change the path of the Carpathians and opens up new possibilities for future stories.

I liked the other books a lot better. wanted to see more of the other characters. wanted to know if the microbes where defeated.but i did enjoy it. I thought they where a good fit both fighters and wanting to help others.
