Once again, the contemporary installment in the Arcane Society series has an edge over the historical and futuristic books. The mystery is intriguing, the romance is engaging and the actions scenes exciting. My one small caveat is the lack of progression in the overall Nightshade story arc.

Although the sizzle and spark of Isabella and Fallon's relationship is somewhat absent, they are a sweet couple and some of their moments together left me smiling. Isabella's sunny personality and calming aura is a perfect match for Fallon's dark and brooding tendencies.

The mystery, which focuses on a conspiracy involving the sale of paranormal weapons, is comprised of several complex threads that ultimately come together quite cohesively. JAK weaves such a successfully complex web that despite the plethora of clues, the identity of the culprit caught me by surprise for once.

The small town vibe of Scargill Cove and the quirky personalities of its inhabitants are a wonderful addition to the story and I hope that JAK will return there sometime.

Next up is Quicksilver in which we will apparently learn more about Mrs. Bridewell's curiosities - looking forward to it.

In Too Deep is the 10th in the Arcane Society novels. These have been written under Jayne Ann Krentz, Amanda Quick and Jayne Castle. These are easy to read novels that have interesting paranormal characters.If you have read any of the other Arcane Society novels you know what your going to get with this one. So set back and enjoy the visit into Fallon's life.

This is Fallon Jones story.

When Fallon Jones took over the family business he moved Jones & Jones headquarters to Scargill Cove, a secluded coastal town in northern California. As a confirmed recluse and investigator of the paranormal this cove suited him just fine. It seems the cove is a hot spot, a convergence point for unusually strong currents of energy which might explain why the town draws misfits and drifters like moths to a flame.
Isabell Valdez is used to changing apartments, jobs, names and even social security numbers at a drop of a hat - but this is too much. She's been framed by some very dangerous men. And now they have sent their thugs after her. She would be dead if her gift of intuition hadn't told her to run.
Now she has found employment with Fallon Jones.

This book is an enjoyable easy read. This paranormal mystery is a serviceable detective story. There is light romance with some intimate relations. Isabella and Fallon are likable heroes and are continuously on the case investigating some lost or stolen paranormal devices that can affect people's minds. I believe readers who enjoy paranormal mysteries would like this book. I have little experience with this genre, but it held my attention all the way through.The villains are somewhat simply written and the romance does not develop gradually, but instead emerges full blown in the first interactions between the two main characters.This is book 10 in a series that spans time and different characters and the author demonstrates a mastery of the material.

This is classic Krentz. Just the right mix of action, adventure, mystery, appearances by past arcane characters and romance. Definitely a must read!

The beginning didn't seem to have much to do with the overall story, so I kept anticipating it going in a different direction. Other than that, an ok romance/paranormal/mystery.

Isabelle is able to "find" things using her psi abilities. When she runs into trouble she goes to Scargill Cove to seek the help of Fallon Jones, the secretive head of J&J a psychic private investigative agency that works closely with the Arcane Society.

Fallon is working on his newest case, trying to find the remains of Nightshade, a group of people who are using a psychic drug to enhance their powers. The drug has deadly results over time and Arcane and J&J are trying to get it stopped.

When Isabelle shows up and starts working for Fallon they bring together two or three stories that have been swirling around this series.

I truly enjoyed getting to see Fallon's romance, and the mystery was complicated enough that it keep me guessing.

I read all of Krentz's books, under any of her various names, right now I'm a little behind and have several to read in my towering TBR stack. I can't wait.

Since I had enjoyed the last book I read by Krentz, I decided to try this one, which included one of the minor characters from the previous book. I thoroughly enjoyed the mix of adventure, mystery, action, and romance between Fallon and Isabella.

Fallon Jones has found himself an assistant in Scargill Cove... or did she find him? Isabella Valdez is running from trouble and conspiracies that only Fallon Jones will be able to untangle and protect her. In the meantime, she is bringing her own psychic skills to J & J and winning over the isolated and private Fallon. Nightshade is still operating behind the scenes and trying to cut Arcanes' ties to J & J as their detective arm and possible targeting any Jones in Arcanes' power structure. Another enjoyable book in the series of Arcane Society and 1st in The Looking Glass Trilogy.

I enjoyed this story of love and psychic abilities. Fallon Jones has set up his offices in Scargill Cove, a spot that draws misfits to it because of a confluence of energy. Isabella Valdez is also drawn to the place. After a short time Fallon finds himself with an assistant, an assistant who understands him and together they find themselves drawn into investigating some strange artifacts. Artifacts that can kill.Isabella's past is murky though and the two of them have to overcome obstacles to get to a relationship.It's not a bad read for it's type. The plot was a bit lurchy and seemed to be unsure where it was going and who were the bad guys. But overall it drew me in and kept me reading.

One of the better contemporary paranormal tales from Krentz. It was a fast read and the two lead characters were interesting. The secondary characters were somewhat thin and if you hadn't read her previous novels in this series, I think you would be very confused about what is going out. Krentz is long past the really interesting, well fleshed out contemporaries that she used to write but at least the contemporaries are not so jarring as the historicals are in their inaccuracies and out of time characterizations.

In Too Deep is the first of The Looking Glass Trilogy.Fans of the modern day Arcane Society who thought Fallon Jones would never get his mate, stand to be corrected.Fallon Jones, head of the family business of J&J Investigations long ago moved to the quirky, quaint town of Scargill Cove CA. It’s close to the sea and shrouded in more than the fog rolling off the Pacific, why did he move, well it’s location, location, location. Fallon is a strong probably off the charts chaos theory talent, which helps immensely in his investigations, but not so much his social life which is why he prefers this little town where he can hide in plain sight to aid his reclusiveness.Isabella Valdez is fleeing for her life from the very people who she once worked for, now she fears they’ve done away with her Grandmother and the only place she has left to run to is Fallon Jones. Fallon knows she’s hiding something, he is after all a strong talent, he just has to keep her safe until she fesses up. In the mean time they have this other small problem, they can’t keep their hands off each other. Chaos, Kismet or disaster, start turning pages to find out.Ms. Krentz continues her beloved Arcane novels with the irrepressible Fallon Jones, that unlovable character you’ve met in many previous reads and matches him with this spunky, sparkly direct opposite of him, which works like a charm. The plot is of course out of this world, dealing with Victorian paranormal weapons and villains who are just as odd as the heros. Her dialogue is in the ever present Arcane-speak that her fans are used to and love, but if you’re a new reader to this series it may take you a few pages to get it down, once you do you’ll Arcane-speak with the best of them. Her characters are over the top, unforgettable but at the same time very personable. The romance is wonderfully sweet in part because of the hero’s proclivity to chivalry and the heroine’s allowance of it and in part because these two lovers make you smile at every turn. The love scenes are as hot as the romance is sweet, but not too hot to embarrass the reader.Get ready for another trip in the funhouse that is the Arcane Society with all the quirky members, bad and good and in between, for a bumpy ride to romance, for tense moments with villains to remember and crimes you won’t forget mixed with a cornucopia of odd characters and even odder places. All in all a great read. The only detriment to getting hooked on the Arcane books, is waiting for the next one.

Typical Krentz! Quirky characters, crisp dialog, paranormal romantic suspense. Isabella is on the run; Fallon Jones is overworked. She makes herself his assistant at J&J - paranormal investigators for the Arcane Society. They investigate to find out who is trying to kill her, who is selling paranormal weapons, and who is trying to oust the Jones family from control of the Arcane Society. Fallon's talent is seeing connections. Former Jones who had the same talent often went crazy. Fallon is reclusive and eccentric. Isabella is a finder talent who was raised by her conspiracy-theorist grandmother. However, she sees the real Fallon and falls in love with him. Great, light story! First book of a trilogy.
