In The Automatic Millionaire, David Bach shares that secret.
The Automatic Millionaire starts with the powerful story of an average American couple -- he's a low-level manager, she's a beautician -- whose joint income never exceeds $55,000 a year, who somehow manage to own two homes debt-free, put two kids through college, and retire at fifty-five with more than $1 Million in savings. Through their story you'll learn the surprising fact that you cannot get rich with a budget! You must have a plan to pay yourself first that is totally automatic, a plan that will automatically secure your future and pay for your present.
What Makes The Automatic Millionaire Unique:
You don't need to make a lot of money
You don't need a budget
You don't need willpower
You don't need to be that interested in money

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5One of the best financial books I’ve ever read. Leveraging automation technology is so underrated. Thank you David Bach for changing my life.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Yes, it does seem to work. The catch is that you have wait 30-40 years. Pretty obvious in a lot of ways, and I figured out I was already doing everything he recommended. But it was encouraging, and I would totally recommend it to someone totally new to the idea of saving (like a teenager).

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5It's been a few years since I've read this book, but I remember being impressed by the advice to automate your finances, and I've done that to an extent. I could probably benefit from a re-read of this one, but it would have to get in line behind so many others on my to-read list.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5A helpful book, especially for those living in USA; it gives you many tips and practical steps to follow with specific platforms and services for investing. For the rest of us, is ok. You can learn a few things, especially if you are new in this world. Pay yourself first, handle your bad debt and give money to charities are just a few you can learn within its pages
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Good but very outdated. Costs are not the same, and some of the suggested companies turned out to be corrupted and predatory. (Schwabs, Fidelity, etc.)
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The book gives good information on how to stay on course with your investment by automating them. Pay yourself first using tax deferred investments , own your home and stay debt free. The only debt worth paying is for your home because it gives you leverage using other people's money. I would have liked some further explanation on how to pay your mortgage quickly, the author quickly rushed through the concept. He was more concerned to say how this was a great strategy rather than explaining the strategy and whether the strategy could be used in a different context. All in all an informative book.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A good book for the time it was written (Early 2000's). Concepts remain the same, automate your savings and have a boring investment strategy. Would recommend for beginning investors
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Good basic advice but clearly out of date regarding certain things. Listening to a 2004 book about how there cant possibly be a house price bubble is pretty funny.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Must read! Great book honestly , do much information !
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Me ha encantado este libro, aunque está enfocado sobre todo a personas con un sueldo fijo (y este no es mi caso).
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5blah....i tried to get through this, but it sounded like he was repeating himself the whole time and had waaay too much enthusiasm.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Good for beginners. Pretty much all review if you’re already financially literate. And, a little bit outdated with website suggestions due to being written almost 15/20 years ago, but you’ll get the idea.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5David Bach puts forth what many of us learn from teachers, financial advisors, and parents into simple and straight forward methods. Add to that the examples and charts help emphasize the importance of following his advise, which is where many advisors, parents, etc have failed to do for many of us.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Some advice is outdated but overall a very informative and well presented book. Must read!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A little out dated, but some good information. There were some great nuggets that could be used to take financial control. I recommend this book for any financial beginner, trying to get out of debt or find a way to start making money work passively so that one day they could be rich.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Fantastic book on personal management. It aimed on American population however the principles can be applied everywhere. Great book for anyone to understand money and building basic to intermediate money skills.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5everyone has got to read this book!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This books should be required reading for every college and high school student. Basic straightforward clear thinking for all to secure their future with painless saving.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5It’s a very good book if it were to apply to you. Half of it talks about how you need to be saving so much and he assures everyone that everyone has room to save by not wasting some money a day. But my husband and I literally don’t waste a penny a day. We don’t waste money on Starbucks, going out to eat, etc. We are just very good at saving. The automatic system is good but I already knew most of it so if you’re a beginning looking to save money, set yourself up for retirement then this is for you. But I’m looking for ways to get rich within a few years. Not for when I retire. So if you’re in the same situation then don’t read this. It is a great book for beginners though.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Really helpful book! Learned so much and really inspired to apply my new wisdom
