I tried to give this book a proper listen, but eventually gave up. I just could not get past the fact that the 'hero' sent to save the slave was just as overcome with lust for her as everyone he was saving her from - even going so far as to passionately kiss her just moments after she was molested by several men.

You can dress it up and call it romance or true love, but the storyline is distasteful. I realize this is fantasy, but there is a potentially destructive aspect to this novel that anyone in/freed from/sensitive to sex trafficking should be aware of before reading this book.

I like the story itself, but the narrators could have put more passion behind the words, feel the words, help me visualize each action of the characters. I want to feel the lust in the story as well as the actions of the mission. It was quite boring and dull based on others I've heard. 3 stars.

The narrators did a good job. The pacing was decent, more than one species of alien was presented. It fell flat with the story, the book read more like a loose outline of a story than an actual novel. Human - Alien romance with an explicit sex scene. Can't say that it was particularly noteworthy in being either spicy or hilariously terrible (see Literary Review's Bad Sex in Writing Award for examples). The characters didn't feel dimensional and I wasn't invested in what happened to them.
