About this audiobook

In a world that preaches a "try harder" gospel-just keep going, keep hustling, keep pretending we're all fine-we're left exhausted, overwhelmed, and so numb to our lives. If we're honest, we've been overfunctioning for so long, we can't even imagine another way. How else will things get done? How else will we survive?

It doesn't have to be this way. Aundi Kolber believes that we don't have to white-knuckle our way through life. In her debut book, Try Softer, she'll show us how God specifically designed our bodies and minds to work together to process our stories and work through obstacles. Through the latest psychology, practical clinical exercises, and her own personal story, Aundi equips and empowers us to connect us to our truest self and truly live. This is the "try softer" life.

In Try Softer, you'll learn how to: know and set emotional and relational boundaries; make sense of the difficult experiences you've had; identify your attachment style-and how that affects your relationships today; move through emotions rather than get stuck by them; and grow in self-compassion and talk back to your inner critic. Trying softer is sacred work. And while it won't be perfect or easy, it will be worth it. Because this is what we were made for: a living, breathing, moving, feeling, connected, beautifully incarnational life.

Nice book, much needed in the Body of Christ, where too often people are pushed to try harder by their leaders or their core beliefs. If you are not a Christian listen to it anyway, I didn’t find it religious and it has a lot of valid concepts and activities. I think this is a book people will go back to more than one time as the activities or exercises listed can help people in time of need and growth.

This book was beautiful, heart wrenching—for me to hear kindness, love and Grace for my wounded self and life. Freedom, truth, and knowledge flow from this book. I appreciated the weaving of God and neuroscience throughout!

Very good, I highly recommend this book to those who just can’t quite seem to rest. To those who work so hard for others, but have nothing left for themselves.

Be loved, beloved. Allow yourself to experientially know the compassion, connection, and joy of God. Not just in your mind and spirit, but in your body.
That's the essence of Aundi Kolber's book.
While there wasn't much here that was actually new to me, I appreciated the gentle, compassionate journey through a step by step process to allow the reader to practice being compassionate towards oneself, and to widen the "window of tolerance" to be able to joyfully experience things that would once have been to overwhelming to a damaged nervous system.

Involves a lot of Jesus talk. Started out ok, but the references to God got a bit too thick for my liking.
