About this audiobook

The Collectors may have written the rules, but I'm changing the game.

After almost losing myself to hatred, it's time to shift my priorities. Fighting the Collectors has resulted in nothing but death and destruction, and the cycle has to stop.

With Geppetto and his minions breathing down my neck, my options are limited-join them or run.

So I'll do what I have to, but I'll do it on my terms.

If only I wasn't facing more questions than answers. I don't know what's going on with my psychic abilities or magic. The events surrounding my mother's death are still in question, and I have no idea how to maneuver my relationships with Stowe, Noah, Jameson, and Mason.

My name is Adele Rose, and I promise things will be different this time.

Contains mature themes.

Going into book 3 of a 4 book series you know the plot has to step up to really put the story and readers in a good stop for the last book. This author does a fabulous job of this, something she has cemented with her other series time after time. She really takes the time to build up this world, give us depth of characters, and the culmination of it all is magical (even in her contemporary series). I thoroughly enjoyed this series!

Now in terms of the story, we still feel the losses that we experienced at the end of book 1 and in book 2, some characters have a really tough time taking the next step. It was very genuine all the feelings and even though some were frustrating, it felt like it could fit into real life despite this series being a supernatural theme. I liked seeing the changes in Adele's powers (not really changes but enhancements, new aspects of it), meeting new side characters (love Megan and her daughter!) and getting to know others who we have already fallen for (cue in George and Aunt Ruby). I love the hidden community, I think it would be fun to get maybe a spinoff from this world, maybe get some glimpses from Adele and her gang. Could be fabulous ❤️ I won't give too much away because the ending of this book is a doozie. Let's say Geppeto doesn't put the brakes on his persistence and the lengths he will go. We get to learn a lot about him and his motive behind everything. Also about Mason and his mysteriousness. I am glad book 4 was available in audio because if not I would have thrown my phone haha, let me leave it at that!

I really enjoyed the steam and romance speed going faster. After a slower than normal start (in comparison with the author's other series) I was so ready to see walls come down and for some fuuuun times. I thought there were some serious swoon worthy moments and some heat that was greatly done. I already have listened to book 4 so I know it gets even better in book 4 haha. I really like these characters and this family that Adele and the group have made ?.

In terms of the narration, it was good. I enjoyed a lot of the emotional performances, the vulnerability, Adele being a BA and fierce. Again I thought she was OTT in some instances that took me out of the story but I would still give her a 4/5 for the narration.
