About this audiobook

A sapphic fantasy romance for people who love dangerous women, magical worlds, and lesbian pirates.

Emilia Drakon was once the youngest and kindest of the dragon sorcerers, but she's now the last of her kind. Betrayed and angry, she trades her meekness for a sword and embarks on a quest for vengeance that will lead her straight into the arms of the legendary Captain Maria Welles.

Captain of the famed pirate ship, the Wicked Fate, Maria is every bit as treacherous and bloodthirsty as they say. She has her own vendetta and practically jumps at the chance to trick Emilia into joining her crew.

But when their animosity toward each other blossoms into a passionate romance, the two women will have to decide what they want most.

Vengeance?

Or love?

I hate leaving bad reviews, especially on Sapphic romance because we need so much more of it, but it takes a lot for me to give up on a book.

The core problem I had was the main character really puts the Pathological in Pathological Demand Avoidance. She is so entitled that she refuses even reasonable rules, even with death penalties attached. The story needed to start much earlier or have longer flash back sequence because her motivations don't have context for her extreme behavior. The constant way she acts surprised and angry when people do exactly what they told her they would is grating.

Also I know this is enemies to lovers but the tone/emotional whiplash is over the top. The kiss or kill switch is flipped by the tiniest things, which makes it feel very contrived.

Finally a nitpick but "those (adjective) (body part) of hers" is excessively overused. It works well when used occasionally for emphasis, but when it is constant it's just wordy.

Amazing loved it overall. It was a tiny bit repetitive, but that might have only noticed bc I listened to this thing in 2 sittings lol. They were so cute together. I just wished the second was out already. Great voice acting from the narrator. Prob one of my best reads of the year ??

This is awesome but show tell how the dragons helped them win the war and the sea goddess. The sequel would be nice
