About this audiobook

Hide. That's all Pippa can do to escape the terror chasing her. But now that she's off the grid in a safe house, she finds plenty of interesting things to watch through the window. Like her new neighbor, with his startling green eyes, killer smile, and sexy bad-boy tattoo . . .

Run. Malcolm West is fleeing the hell he unleashed in his last assignment as an undercover cop. A backwoods bungalow sounds like the perfect place to start over. Until he discovers he's been set up . . .

Fight. Someone's gone to a lot of trouble to bring them together. No matter how much he resents that, and his own driving needs, Malcolm will have to dig deep and let loose the banished killer inside himself, or Pippa's fears could come true faster than the flip of a bolt in a lock . . .

Hidden by Rebecca ZanettiRomantic suspense. First in the Deep Ops series.A newly formed Undercover team investigates a cult. The heroine has been on the run from the same cult for years. She’s a bit skittish. Malcolm falls for her quickly, sure she is innocent in the upcoming and unknown threat from the cult. Fast moving action, suspense and hot, sexy romantic connections. Secondary characters:Haha. The dog doesn’t know when to stop drinking whiskey. As they were leaving, he raced back to the table, knocked the bottle over, grabbed the neck in his mouth and then drained the bottle, his tail wagging. But no worries, the owner has had him to the vet several times checking on the dogs liver. All good. Not that the dog was supposed to drink, but he sometimes got into the liquor cabinet. What a hoot! The dog has a few other issues that are revealed throughout the story. The rest of the agency staff all have their own quirks. Wolfe with Kat the kitten. Leader Angus. The freed jailbird computer hacker with the Irish accent. I can’t wait to read all their stories. Excerpt:“I, ah, bake sometimes.” The flush intensified as she looked down at him from not much height. “A lot. I bake a lot.” It smelled like what heaven should smell like. He’d probably never know. Was it rude to beg? It probably was. Would she let him buy whatever it was that smelled so good? It was probably also rude to offer money to a new neighbor for baked goods. He’d never learned much in the manners department. Manipulation, hell yeah. But something in him, something he definitely didn’t want to examine, balked at manipulating her. “I can microwave,” he offered. “Good noodles.” “Oh.” She slid the door open and edged halfway inside. Indecision crossed her face; she looked almost pained. She probably had great manners and was now fighting them. He rolled to his feet and shook out his left leg, which had cramped. The ache from his thigh was a constant companion, but at least the bullet had missed an artery. When he could, he took several steps back to give her space. The skies opened, and rain began to drop. “Um, I could give you a couple of cookies, if you’d like.” Her knuckles were white as she clutched the door. Damn, he wanted those cookies. But her body language, even if he wasn’t an expert, showed she didn’t want him inside. In fact, she was barring the way. “My boots are dirty,” he lied easily. “I’d love a couple of cookies, but do you mind if I stay on the porch? My socks have holes, and I’d rather not remove my boots. Too much ego, you know.”Excerpt from Hidden by Rebecca Zanetti. I received a copy of this book from NetGalley. I also purchased a copy to share.

Good start to this series. Suspense, complex characters with the right mix of romance. I’m looking forward to finding out the secrets the rest of the team members are holding

Hidden by Rebecca ZanettiDeep Ops #1Hooray! A new series by an author I know will always provide a story I won’t be able to put down – her books are always just that good! And, this is a brilliant introduction to a team I know I am going to enjoy getting to know a whole lot better! The Requisition Force is a group that has been set up by an FBI profiler – a rather clandestine group that works with/for HDD. They have handlers that are sketchy and it would seem a rather different group of people on the team. With a hacker to help them taken from jail, a profiler on the hunt for a beastly serial killer that killed his sister, an investigator that we don’t learn much about this time and an ex lieutenant commander and perhaps more to come this group is a hodgepodge that could very well mesh into a group to be reckoned with. In this book Pippa Smith is doing her best to survive quietly under the radar when Malcolm West – ex undercover cop – moves in next door. Both suffer from past experiences that have left them with PTSD and panic attacks. How they meet, get to know one another, grow close, work together to bring down a cult leader bad guy and eventually are incorporated into the team that will star in this series is something I thoroughly enjoyed! Did I like this book? Definitely!Do I want to read more in this series? Can’t wait! Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington-Zebra for the ARC – This is my honest review.5 Stars

I can't seem to get enough of this series! With each book, the characters grow and the magical world expands to new and exciting heights! I thought Elsewhere was a neat concept, but this book introduces us to shadow realms or "little pocket realities" to the real world. Let's just say that Sagash's shadow realm is far from little and there is a lot going on inside.

As always, the writing and magical battles were top notch. I loved it!

Hidden by Rebecca Zanetti is the first book in the new romantic suspense Deep Ops series. Or perhaps this would be another for the more erotic suspense pile as the relationship was jumped right into the steamy before the “romance” is involved.

Malcolm West is an ex undercover police officer who out of chance has chosen the wrong neighbor to live peacefully next to. As soon as Malcolm moves in he notices that Pippa is a bit of a shut in barely leaving her home next door but he never expects to be pulled into a case involving her.

When Malcolm is approached that his new neighbor may be involved in a cult that the authorities have been trying to infiltrate he’s a bit skeptical. Torn between his attraction to Pippa and his suspicion Malcolm finds himself undercover yet again hoping to stop the cult from harming innocent people.

Hidden was quite a fast-paced story on every level, not just the relationship side of things. Although I often wish the characters start on more than just their attraction it actually worked in this story leaving the focus on the suspense side and putting a reader on the edge of their seat waiting to find out what would happen. The situation and characters pulled me right in from the beginning, so I’d definitely recommend checking this one out.

After Alex's past finally came out in the open, Anne and Variam had done everything to distance themselves from him. So when Anne disappears, trying to figure out what happened is not as easy as it should have been - Alex has no idea what Anne had been up to. Thankfully for everyone, Luna never broke contact. As in all the previous books, the story requires us to learn more about the Council and the world of magic Alex lives in. I like the way Jacka gets to these details - they are part of the story and not an infodump and as Alex is somewhat of an outsider because of his old master and the past, the details come up while he is working out a problem or when he needs to learn something (usually a bit too late). The whole novel felt a bit like a prequel - there is a story (Anne's problems, including finally learning more about her past) but even that is needed to set the story for the rest of the series (or the next few books anyway) - making sure that Alex has a family around him (the chosen type, not the blood type), everyone's backstories and histories wide open on the table, the Council and the Keepers noticing Alex (which is not always a good idea) and rumors of Richard being back finally confirmed. I don't mind these setup novels usually and this one fits the series but it also feels a bit as a slow down of the action - almost like a side quest to retrieve something which you would need in the future. On the other hand, I like the style of Jacka's writing so I don't really mind these disruptions in the main story (although technically speaking, it is not really a disruptions - people did move around to get to the places they need to be for the story to continue).

Luna begs Alex to find Anne. Anne was unhappy with Alex at the end of the previous book because of his life choices in his past and how he dealt with it in the last book. The search for Anne leads Alex to Anne’s past with her dark master that she ran from several years ago. Of course there is more to it than meets the eye as Alex is Sagash’s shadow realm fighting to rescue her. This and the previous book are pivots to the overall story arc and you can now see that things are going to get very serious as the books continue.

If they'd just leave him to his cozy bookshop and his quiet life he wouldn't keep getting in the way of their nefarious plans and making friends along the way, even if some of them have issues with him calling them friends. Anne Walker is one of them, she has serious issues with how he dealt with some people trying to kill him and now she's missing. To add to his issues his former master is back and looking for him to rejoin the fold.Alex is such a character, fairly determined not the get involved but loyal to a fault.

Hidden shakes things up in Alex's world as friends come and go, and old enemies resurface. This book focuses heavily on Anne, who is gradually becoming a more compelling character. I suspect that Mr. Jacka is building up to a romantic relationship between Anne and Alex, and at first, I kept saying to myself, "Her?" (Thanks, Arrested Development.) But this book officially killed my perception of Anne as bland, and I look forward to seeing her kick more ass in future books. In short, Hidden is yet another entertaining read that leaves me eager to get my hands on Alex's next adventure.
