About this audiobook

From New York Times bestselling author Kristan Higgins comes a funny and surprising new novel about losing it all—and getting back more than you ever expected.

Lillie Silva knew life as an empty nester would be hard after her only child left for college, but when her husband abruptly dumps her for another woman just as her son leaves, her world comes crashing down. Besides the fact that this
announcement is a complete surprise (to say the least), what shocks Lillie most is that she isn’t … heartbroken. She’s furious.

Lillie has loved her life on Cape Cod, but as a mother, wife, and nurse-midwife, she’s used to caring for other people … not taking care of herself. Now, alone for the first time in her life, she finds herself going a little rogue. Is it over the top to
crash her ex-husband’s wedding dressed like the angel of death? Sure! Should she release a skunk into his perfect new home? Probably not! But it beats staying home and moping.

She finds an unexpected ally in her glamorous sister, with whom she’s had a tense relationship all these years. And an unexpected babysitter in, of all people, Ben Hallowell, the driver in a car accident that nearly killed Lillie twenty years ago. And
then there’s Ophelia, her ex-husband’s oddly lost niece, who could really use a friend.

It’s the end of Lillie’s life as she knew it. But sometimes the perfect next chapter surprises you … out of the clear blue sky.

This was a great read! It's about marriage, divorce and when the kids are all out of the house. I found it quite easy to relate to as a mother. It wasn't a fast read not with 500 pages but it was an emotional and Intriguing story. Lille was an amazing character I would love to read more about her. I laughed, I cried and felt a few more emotions along the way! It was an emotional roller-coaster but worth every minute I spent with my nose buried in the pages!

Finished this book tears and a smile on my face. It’s delightful, honest, heartwarming, bittersweet, sad and hilarious! I laughed out loud so many times!! It’s about two women finding themselves after a huge life change they didn’t see coming. Two POVs (the ex wife and the new wife). We learn about their past and their present and how they both choose what they want and what makes them happy. And how sometimes happiness find us “out of the clear blue sky”. I’m still tearing up and smiling over this book.

If I didn’t know better I would swear I wrote this book. Or that this book was about me and my divorce. Wow what a real down to earth true to life story. All hail Lilly!! What a queen! Every thought every comment that Lilly had is exactly what I went through and the things I said. I related to this book. The characters are well written and voiced.

I have listened to many of this author’s books and this might be one of my favorites. Without giving anything away, I love how Lily’s mind thinks and how she acts on her impulses - something I think everyone has entertained but never followed through on. She made me laugh and brought me close to tears. Heartily recommend.

When Lillie shows wealthy widow, Melissa, a new home, she doesn't realize this will change her life. A few short months after the sale, Brad tells Lillie he wants a divorce, and he is marrying Melissa. Lillie is utterly shocked and attempts to move on with her life. Her son, Dylan, has gone off to college, her parents' marriage broke up years ago, and her relationship with her sister, Hannah, is only recently being rekindled. Lillie is a midwife in town, and enjoys bringing new life into the world. Lillie is also remembering a traumatic event that happened to her when she was just a teen and has never gotten resolution. Her friend Ben helps her face it. This is a novel of taking back your life and finding your strength in yourself. There were several laugh out loud moments, but overall, a good women's contemporary fiction novel.

Lillie’s husband of 20 years decided to have “joy” in his life and leaves her for a younger woman. She gets the house and a huge mortgage and doesn’t know how she’ll manage. Meanwhile her husband’s new wife comes to Lillie, a nurse midwife, for her pregnancy. Complicated and fun!

The very best of a summer read!!!! A funny novel about losing it all but getting back more than expected! Lillie Silva knows it will be hard when her only son leaves for college, she's not expecting her husband to dump her for a younger woman and get remarried immediately! Just so much fun!!! Highly recommended!

This was one of my favorites by Kristan Higgins. It's the story of Lillie, whose husband cheats on her with Melissa, the new girl in town. We get to know both Lillie and Melissa, and it turns out that Lillie's ex-husband is no great loss.
