About this audiobook

Chase Andrews.

The Kingsmen’s top tight end.

My brother’s friend and teammate.

My new neighbor.

The grumpy to my sunshine.

But underneath that grumpy exterior, there’s so much more.

Chase likes to pretend nothing affects him, but I’ve seen glimpses of his other side in the time we’ve spent together.

And the more we get to know each other, the more I’m falling for him.

Under normal circumstances, this would be great. Except my hyper-protective big brother thinks no man is good enough for me, and my ex-fiancé is trying to win me back.

One charming, seemingly good man already broke my heart. Am I stupid to give a self-confessed relationship-adverse football player a chance to break it a second time?

This is one of my favorite authors. Their books are always entertaining and easy to emerse in. This was a nice story overall. With all that said and as much as I hate to knock their stories, there is one issue with this, and it's so common with authors. There's a redundancy in the stories. Brother's little sister, trying to stay away, can't be together for some ridiculous reason. Also, let's be honest. A lot of the reasons for not getting together are realistically miniscule. Oh, and the other one is how they've spent so much time together, had insane amounts of sex, and shared their deepest secrets, yet somehow they can't figure out where they stand with each other. It's the same general storyline, although with different people. In the end, someone opens up, and there's some big love epiphany between them. They end up pregnant, married or both. There needs to be some more unique stories and characters, or the stories become stale. I truly hate saying anything negative about Piper Rayne. On the other hand, when I find myself making the bla gesture while reading or listening, I realize there has been entirely too much of the same song and dance.

This the third and final instalment in the Kingsmen series and I loved it! Chase was the sweetest grumpy man I have ever read about and Twyla was a gentle happy spirit. Jason Clarke bedroom voice was OMG ? and this contributed so much to me loving this book ?

    Everything I needed & more
Chase & Twyla were the story I didn’t even know I needed. This book was seriously unputdownable for me (I figured it deserved its own word…bc I’m pretty sure that’s not one ?). I absolutely adore a brothers best friend trope, & this one checked the boxes for everything I love.

Chase is the grumpy introvert on the team. He’s a loner & has been for most of his life. He has his friends on his team, but beyond that, he basically just doesn’t like people. But there’s something about Twyla that just draws him in.

Twyla is Miles’s little sister. He’s uber protective of her almost to the point of being controlling. When her fiancé becomes her ex, she just needs to get away. San Fran has always been a safe haven for her, so she sort of finds place to live. It just so happens to be across the hall from her brother’s friend & teammate, Chase Andrews.

The way that Chase is a completely different person for Twyla is precious. The way he shows her a different side & only her is so special. His full on support & care for her makes him a total book boyfriend. Twyla’s insecurities are squashed, if she just pays enough attention. When these two come together, there’s not a non-swoony moment between them. They’re electric & wow, do they spark!

Twyla’s sunshine is everything Chase ever needed for his grumpy.

Now, the setup for the Chicago Grizzlies series is perfect & leaves me wanting so much more. Miles & Bryce are going to be an epic start & I just know an epic love story.

I’m sad that this is the end of the series for the Kingsmen, but I’m more than ready for the Grizzlies

    Audiobook Review:
I loved the dual narration. It caught me by surprise at first, but man, did I love it! Savannah Peachwood is one of my favorite female narrators and she did not disappoint. Jason Clarke…not enough can be said about his narration. He was perfect for Chase & his narration made me feel the love for Twyla.

This was a well-written forbidden romance with all the other wonderful tropes: Brother's teammate/friend, on the rebound, serially single, football player. As Chase comes out of his shell for Twyla I really fell for his cinnamon roll side! Twyla's character really finds her strength and I enjoyed how they evolved as friends, confidants, and eventually in reluctant love.

Narration by Jason Clarke and Savannah Peachwood is perfection! They are are both wonderful performers, and together in DUET it was magic!

Among Piper Rayne’s best…love the Kingsmen! Twila and Chase’s story was fun and sexy…with plenty of sweet thrown in. As always, narration was stellar!

Love the dual-narration! Wish more audiobooks are done like this. Such a cool series. Can't wait to start the next!

PERFORMANCE REVIEW & RATING: 5 STARS

Excellent duet narration. There were less than a few times when I even noticed any type of unnatural space between their conversations. Mad props to not just Jason & Savannah, but the entire production team as well. Duet narration can be a difficult feat and I have no clue if they produced this narration together in the same studio or separate and someone *put it together*, but it was flawless either way so well done!!!

STORY REVIEW & RATING: 4.5 STARS

I don’t even know where to begin my review! Lol I really enjoyed this story! There are SO MANY heartwarming, romantic, hilarious, and just plain fun plot-points in this story that I’d highly rec it to anyone and everyone! It just has a little bit of everything, and it made me happy!

I think the best aspect for me was how well the grumpy/sunshine trope was developed, not just as characterization of Chase & Twyla but also their storyline. Twyla wasn’t just sunshine in personality, she lived sunshine, and Chase wasn’t just grumpy in personality, he completely lived grumpy, and Piper Rayne did such an excellent job of blending them both together so well from the very beginning that they didn’t even feel like opposites! I dunno you guys but it brought me joy!! I will say that I don’t think I would have felt this an intensely as I did were it not for the narrators, maybe. Jason Clarke’s *voice* lends easily towards grumpy and Savannah’s very easily to *sunshine* and I am 100% sure that helped bring the joy for me. But Chase and Twyla were definitely grumpy/sunshine characters that bring joy no matter how you choose to experience this story.

One aspect I strongly disliked was how Twyla long she *clung* to what could have been with her x and how long into the story she still grieved (her word) what could have been … #twitchy I especially disliked that she gave him even a second glance. I mean they didn’t just *break-up* for FFS! It just made her weak and I didn’t like it. It was a dark contrast to every other aspect of her personality, and it didn’t fit. It felt like *dramatics for dramatics sake* and we all know how I feel about those kind of plot-points! Lol I absolutely understand the closure element but UGH, so darn cliché! LOL However, on the flip side of that, I loved how she took her past and kicked it straight back where it belonged in the end! :)

I’ve never been a fan of the sibling trope because I truly do not understand it. I hate the whole cliché encounter of finding out, but I appreciated that it wasn’t dragged out. So, there’s that. I honestly just wish authors would take a different approach when it came to this trope. I see it as insulting to both parties involved. Who wants a friend who thinks so low of him/her that dating their siblings puts them in a rage and who wants a sibling that doesn’t think about their happiness first and foremost before they go all bull in a china shop? Again, I just don’t get it.

I’m sorry to say goodbye to this series so early but I’m looking forward to Miles’ story with a new team and city and of course a whole new cast of characters. I feel like I was just getting comfortable with the Kingsmen :( but it is what it is! Onward to the next great read from this author duo!
