This was my first audiobook and I wonder if that added to the feeling I have after hearing it, but the story writing is wonderful and the characters are so well developed, especially the main character when described as a child in how she related to and processed the world. Truly heartwarming.

Heartwarmingly suspenseful, I fell in love with all of the characters and stayed up until stupid o’clock listening to this book. I’ve been binging Lisa Jewell in no particular order, and this is my favorite so far. I love that nobody has to be the bad guy to make a mystery worth unraveling.

Very unique plot. I really loved this book. Tragic events for this young girl leading to amnesia regarding her early childhood. Nice ending.

Love Lisa Jewel. I been on a kick for a while now and have read/listened to most of her books. I enjoyed this one as well but a bit different than her norm.

I liked this book a lot. I wanted to strangle most of the adult, but I suppose this sort of thing happens more than I’d like to acknowledge. Bless our children Lord.❤️

This is my least favorite Lisa Jewell book so far. It held no surprises. The only reason it was a mystery was because the main character lost her memory. This book felt forced and uninspired compared to her other twisty turny novels.

It was a nice plot line. Because this was an audible, it was confusing to realize which Melody was talking. I would give it a 3.6. I like Jewel’s story telling. It is refreshing these days to read a book in chronological order-if one could be found!

Lisa Jewell is such a wonderful author. She really has a way of capturing the emotion of something. I love how she has all these twists and turns but brings everything today so beautifully at the end. Another great story by Lisa Jewell.

Reading the reviews I was expecting this book to be very good. Generally, I love this author. This story was long, very long, not much excitement, no twists, lots and lots of characters who you never get to know well. The storyline was boring. It did not deliver

This is the first Lisa Jewell book that I didn’t love. I think it might have been the pacing or the length but it kind of just felt like a slog to get through. *small spoilers ahead* it kind of seemed like the more bad things happened in melody’s childhood (mom drama, dad situation, aunt health issues) the less I felt engaged to her character. It was more like a “guess what terrible thing is going to happen next” game than an engaging read. And I didn’t feel like the ending was very satisfying. Ken kind of seemed like a creep the whole time…pretty much all of Jewell’s recent books top this one for me.

I recently found Lisa Jewell and love the previous 3 books I read. This one was a little slow in the beginning and I had to take a break but knew I wanted to finish the book. It was an interesting unravel.

Even though Lisa Jewell is one of my favorite writers, this book wasn't even on my radar until a few weeks ago. (Note to self: Look up an author's catalog on Goodreads instead of assuming your well-stocked library has every book) The Truth About Melody Browne was first published in 2009. This book is more of a regular fiction read when compared to her more recent novels. However, a good portion of the story is unraveling the mystery of Melody's childhood. It's worth a read if you are a fan of the author. When Melody Browne was 9 years old, her family's home burned down and it left her with no memories prior to the tragedy. She is now in her early 30s and a single mother living in London. While attending a hypnotist show, Melody faints onstage. And that jumpstarts her desire to learn more about her past. The story alternates between the present day and key moments in Melody's life when she was a child.Melody is a character I felt very protective of and I'm sure that is in large part due to the fact you see her as a child for half of the story. The young Melody is the driving force but adult Melody is interesting too. Her kid, who she singlehandedly raised, will be leaving the nest soon and so she is at a point in which she will need to redefine her life because she is no longer needed in the day to day mothering role. And so you have this typical storyline of a woman trying to find her place in life along with this slightly bizarre, soap opera amnesia plot but yet they both work well together.I did have some mixed feelings about the last few chapters of the book. In general, the current day storyline wasn't as fully developed as Melody's childhood. And in the end it felt like the author was rushing to wrap everything up.Overall, a good read for me. Even though this is an early work from the author, the writing talent I have come to love was present throughout. I've said this before in my reviews of her books, she's a solid storyteller.Thank you to Atria Books for providing me with a copy of this book! All thoughts expressed are my honest opinion.

I loved this story of the discovery of the life of Melody. It is sad, joyful, and triumphant . Little Melody, though feeling unloved, abandoned by those she loved, never stops loving those who disappointed her. A hypnotist opens her mind to a previous part of her life she had long tucked away into a part of her brain that she closed off. The book is the story of her discovery of her past . A good read!

It was a compelling and lovely story sweetly told and the narrator was perfectly picked. I’m sorry the story is over. I usually only listen to books on tape in my car but I enjoyed this one wherever I could.

I didn’t think I would enjoy this book when I first started, but quickly fell in love with the characters and their journeys through life. A special book to remind you of the importance of human connection and how one person can make all the difference. Fabulous.
