Good story, just a little slower at times than her others.

This was a simple book but for some reason I cried so many times. It was beautifully written and such a great read.

I have really enjoyed Lisa Jewell in general, but this one is definitely not my favorite. I gave it four stars because overall it was OK I really wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

What in the disaster??? It started off well, but it got incredibly muddled. The author should have written two different books. The whole Annabella and flint falling in love bit was unnecessary. The story lines of anna being told told she could be a model and riding in the back of a limousine was stupid and again unnecessary. After chapter 30 I had to keep fast forwarding to skip a lot of the parts. I did like Xanders character, and b is a b, but I enjoyed learning 6 her character. Ohhhhh the slut shaming of Jill passed me off. Sooooo because Flint's last shag was 1 whole month ago, he is a better person??? And pure anna had 1 other sex partner she can feel superior? Ugh.... that was unnecessary as well. Ohhhhh and the woman doesn't shower, and apparently, that is realistic. Okay. . ..

I have read several books by this author and I have to say so far this is the best! It really grabbed at my heart and touched me. Wasn't what I expected and that is hard to find. Can't wait to read the next one.

This was a pleasant surprise. The characters were well-drawn, the plot intriguing and the resolution satisfactory. While I think the final climax was a bit pat, overall, I found this more enjoyable than most books pigeonholed as "chick lit," and will probably keep this around for re-reading.

Enjoyed the story buildup and outcomes until the ending. The ending took away the realistic characters story, to fantasy ending for Anna with her mother. Shame.

This is such a wonderful journey with multiple characters undergoing transformation. Not at all predictable. Would listen to/read more by this author.

interesting ideas, very easy reading. I enjoyed the dated feel to whole book and felt it was a great "revisit" to a time and place (london in the late 90s)

Lisa Jewell is one of the most prolific and consistently readable authors today, and listening to her novels adds a dimension of accents and personality to all of her characters. The narration is superb-!! Well worth the time.
While this was not my favorite of her novels— the plot was a little thin, not as complex as so many of her others-(think: The Family upstairs, for one), it moved along well, with compelling characters ( loved the Loll character and that accent!!!) and a few of Jewell ‘s trademark twists.
If you haven’t read any other of her novels, however, this would not be the one I’d start with.

I’ve listened to almost all of Jewell’s books in Scrib’d, and I think this one is my favourite. The characters, the London accents plus others, the plot, the reverence for humanity.

This was not a favorite of mine. I found it long, at times boring, and on the whole underwhelming. It is about loss, grief, guilt, and renewals, fresh starts, and somewhat coming of age.

It was just ok. The narrator did a wonderful job! The story just kind of fell flat for me.
