About this audiobook
Miles Cartwright had the rookie season of any player’s dreams. The San Francisco Felons made it all the way to the World Series – with some help from his electric talent – then lost it all in game seven with him on the mound. To make matters worse, a misunderstanding has him in hot water with the law, and on a short leash with his club. The next season might be his last shot at a major league career, and he can’t let anything get in his way.
Last chances are something Carmen Murphy is all too familiar with. Her goal of becoming a respected sports writer is circling the drain while she wastes her talents writing sports gossip for a trashy, but popular, blog. Getting some insight on the Miles Cartwright scandal would be great for page views, but she knows a candid editorial could be just the ticket to a real career. Too bad Miles doesn’t trust her.
With the heat of summer building, and two dreams on the line, can Miles and Carmen both get what they want, without getting in each other’s way? And can they stop driving each other crazy long enough to realize that what they’re looking for might be right in front of them?
Editor's Note
Last Chance...
Sierra Dean continues her “Boys of Summer” series with a rookie pitcher and a sports writer. The pitcher had a fabulous first season, then blew the World Series in the seventh game. The sports writer is wasting her talents at a trashy sports blog. An exclusive with the pitcher, and what caused his massive failure, would vault her up the big leagues of sports writing. But to get that exclusive the two are going to have to trust each other — and that might lead to something more.

What our readers think
Readers find this title to be a great story with interesting and believable characters. The Texas parts and Texas hospitality are loved by readers who are born and raised in Houston and are huge Astros fans. Although some readers found the narration and character descriptions to be distant, the series is overall great and there is hope for it to continue. The slow-burn romance is the central theme, with light twists and turns throughout the story. The storyline with a baseball theme is fun and enjoyable.

It was would be nice if people could walk in forgiveness and forgive others mistakes as well as be forgiven. Move on into a brighter future. A great story - Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5

Sry it was not catching my interest for long. I guess it was part of the narration, the characters were described from a distance I couldn’t get a long with. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5

This has been a great series and I am hopeful that it will continue. We started with how pressure and self-doubt can lead to bad decisions with the H (or anyone facing similar situations). The h is a sports writer who ends up having a fling. A bit later, the H is arrested on drunk driving charges and the h gets the scoop and reports on it.
There are many light twists and turns throughout the story but the slow-burn romance is the overriding central theme. The h has some boundary issues that play a part of the drama that tests the relationship and there is some separation.
The only thing that dropped this from a 4.5-5 Star Story for me was how long it took for the drama to play out, the woe is me and life sucks moments to build into the eventual HEA. For 30 minutes, the hits just kept piling up.
With that being said, the story is still excellent and the author has found a way to skip the bulk of the cookie cutter style that seems to be dominating the romance genre for the past several years! Very refreshing and I will happily continue to listen / read this author's stories!!!2 people found this helpful
