About this audiobook

In exchange for a vial of dragon’s blood to save her brother’s life, Melanie Hall offers herself up as a sacrifice to one of the British dragon-shifter clans. Being a sacrifice means signing a contract to live with the dragon-shifters for six months to try to conceive a child. Her assigned dragonman, however, is anything but easy. He’s tall, broody, and alpha to the core. There’s only one problem—he hates humans.

Due to human dragon hunters killing his mother, Tristan MacLeod despises humans. Unfortunately, his clan is in desperate need of offspring to repopulate their numbers and it’s his turn to service a human female. Despite his plans to sleep with her and walk away, his inner dragon has other ideas. The curvy human female tempts his inner beast like no other.

Jessie Donovan

Jessie Donovan wrote her first story at age five, and after discovering the Dragonriders of Pern series by Anne McCaffrey in junior high, realized that people actually wanted to read stories like those floating around inside her head. From there on out, she was determined to tap into her over-active imagination and write a book someday. After living abroad for five years and earning degrees in Japanese, Anthropology, and Secondary Education, she buckled down and finally wrote her first full-length book. While that story will never see the light of day, it laid the world-building groundwork of what would become her debut paranormal romance, Blaze of Secrets. Jessie loves to interact with readers, and when not traipsing around some foreign country on a shoestring, can often be found on Facebook and Twitter.

    Good story!

It was a good story, kept me entertained and didn't bore me. Characters are like-able and was hoping for everything to work out. Didn't leave me hanging at the end of story (hate when that happens) and left me interested in what will happen in the next book (not sure if I'll read it, but curious).

Definitely for 18 & up due to language and sex

(Tristan & Melanie): a contract between dragons and humans with a deal that for the price of some dragon's blood (which can heal anything that ails human life) and a sacrifice of a human woman to agree to get pregnant and carry a child to help repopulate the clan. Melanie makes this deal in order to save her fifteen year old brother. She's assigned to Tristan, a dragon shifter who is not happy to be chosen to take his turn because he hates humans. This book is a great beginning to the series. JD gives us a look at the Stonefire community and both the human and dragon shifter residents with their individual views on how the contracts work. The antagonists are human dragon hunters who incidentally were responsible for an attack that killed Tristan's family. Melanie is a strong woman and extremely smart, though Tristan is a jerk to her, she goes head to head with him every time. The intimate moments in the beginning are a little cold and animalistic but later on it becomes hotter and with more feeling. I love that Melanie was able to change the views that the dragons had of the humans and they immediately came to love her. Really good start.

I really liked this book. Be warned - there was some graphic sex in it. But it was a very interesting world that was revealed in this 1st of several in the series. This book was like a bonbon - sweet and tasty and gone very fast. Not a lot of nutrition in it, but mmm!

Pretty much what I expected from a free ebook, predictable romance with a dragon twist.

In exchange for a vial of Dragon blood Melanie Hall offers herself up as a sacrifice to be with a dragon-shifter for at least six months with the risk of dying from giving birth to a dragon, all to save her brother. For her it's also a wonderful opportunity to see dragons close-up, having studied them academically for ages. Her assigned dragon is Tristan MacLeod, who despises humans for what they did to his mother. She was killed by some hunters and ever since he's been against humans, but it's his turn to do this and he has to toe the line. He finds that she's not like others and maybe there's a few good humans, particularly this one. It's fun, I wasn't expecting much more and I got what I expected, some pretty powerful sex scenes and some fun banter between characters. I like the sass the women in these give to their mates, they don't let them away with anything too possessive. I think she read the handbook on how not to write female characters and went with a lot of the ideas. I like the slow burn and the heat and how the characters get to be more themselves when they have their pair.
