Description
Reports indicate that Gary Patterson has accepted a new position within college football, this time joining another former rival. As per sources from SicEm 365 and Dave Campbell's Texas Football, Patterson has assumed a senior-level off-field role at Baylor University.
In his new capacity, Patterson will serve as a "senior level strategic consultant," focusing on opponent analysis and self-assessment, mirroring a similar role he held at Texas during the 2022 season.
Patterson, who led TCU's football program from 2001 to 2021, amassing a record of 181-79, securing six conference championships, and achieving six AP top-10 finishes, has now transitioned to contribute to Baylor's football program. Notably, he guided TCU's transition from Conference USA to the Big 12 Conference.
The TCU-Baylor rivalry, once underrated in college football circles, has seen its share of memorable moments. Baylor's upset victory over the 14th-ranked TCU in 2011 marked a significant turning point, propelling Robert Griffin III's Heisman Trophy campaign. Similarly, the 2014 showdown between Baylor and TCU, characterized by a remarkable comeback victory for the Bears, remains etched in the annals of college football history.
