Description
How do you find a good man/woman? What things should you look for? How can you really know a person before getting into a relationship? How can I avoid having a rerun of my last relationship?
These questions and a few more are addressed directly and indirectly in today's podcast. Remember, if you keep having the same experience in relationships, YOU are the common factor. Unless everyone is secretly meeting and all of your past partners know each other and have been scheming to treat you the same way, you are the one consistent thing in each relationship. So, ask yourself, "What am I doing to attract this type of person?" "What am I doing which may be bringing this character out of my partners?" You have full access to YOU, so you are more likely to get answers to these questions.
Taking the time to get to know someone before committing to a relationship is so important. Getting to know their friends says a lot about the person you are interested in since we like to surround ourselves with people who support who we are or people who are the same way we are. Introducing them to your friends and getting their opinion can be very useful since your friends know you better than you know yourself sometimes! Meeting their family members is also a great way to gauge the person you are interested in. Asking them directly about their life experiences in relationships and while growing up can be very useful. It wouldn't hurt to ask them what they want in a relationship or what do they think would be an ideal relationship. And, finally, allow the newness of the relationship to soften up a little. When things are new, they can be very exciting. It can be hard to see them as they really are. It is also hard to see any warning signs.
