Description
What happens when you see destructive patterns in a friend's life? Well, you want to tell them about it, right? But, what if they won't listen? Then you have an intervention. Ok, but what if they deny it and get angry with you? I know I know, but it happens and it can really test the commitment of friendship. It's hard to see people you care about hurting themselves and taking more and more unnecessary risks. But if you are a true friend, you will find a way to communicate this to them. Someone once said, "You can't trust anyone but yourself!" Ok, I can tell that the author had been seriously hurt to come to this conclusion. But I have deceived myself and lied to myself and convinced myself that everything is ok - when it wasn't! So, before you go all out to "help" your friend, consider what role you may have been playing. Are you having the same patterns? - because it is easier to point out someone else's problems when you have the same things going on in your life. If you can really say that you are not having the same issues, then try talking with them one on one. If it is not received, talk with another one of their close friends or family to see if they have a history of these things or if they also see the problems arising. The goal is to get the friend to see that if more than one person who cares about me sees these things in my life, they may be true. Let's talk a little more about this today on, Truly Pivotal Moments.
