The SEC and ESPN released the official schedule for the 2024 season Wednesday night. The Texas Longhorns' and Oklahoma Sooners' entrance into the conference has eliminated divisions and shaken up the regular season, meaning LSU will meet with some rather unfamiliar opponents and will not have their annually scheduled meeting with the Auburn Tigers. The LSU Tigers will have a rematch of the 2019 Peach Bowl taking on the Oklahoma Sooners on rivalry weekend in Baton Rouge, but what do we make of the new schedule and how it shakes out for Brian Kelly's squad?
LSU's gauntlet of a schedule starts with their season opener against Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans in Las Vegas on Labor Day Weekend. Just a few weeks later the Tigers will meet the Trojans' crosstown foe in the UCLA Bruins. While LSU won't see Auburn this season, that doesn't mean the schedule slows down. LSU has a chunk of the season that consists of Ole Miss, at Arkansas, at Texas A&M, hosting Alabama after the bye week, then a road trip to the Swamp to take on the Florida Gators before hosting Vanderbilt and rounding out the season with Oklahoma. Phew...what are fair expectations for this difficult schedule?
