Description

Movement is a pillar of bariatric success, but increased movement can mean we also need to increase our nutritional intake. For pre and post-op weight loss surgery patients, this can be a scary undertaking. Surgery reduces the amount of food we can take in at one time, and knowing how to fuel our bodies for movement can be triggering for so many reasons. What kinds of foods do we need to include? How much will be too much or excessive? How will we know when it is time to increase our intake? These are some big, scary questions that many patients ask when they start to increase or add movement back into their lives.
April, Jason, and Natalie sat down with our friend and bariatric dietitian Kim Tirapelle, Ms, RD, CSSM, and our friend, patient, professional chef and BariNation expert Stephanie Mitchell to answer all questions! After surgery, Stephanie becme a runner but was noticing that her hunger levels, intake requirements, and general energy levels changed as she added more minutes and miles to her movement practice. She turned to BariNation for support and we turned to Kim to get answers to all of these questions, and more!
In this amazing episode, you will learn what it means to fuel our bariatric bodies for movement and some creative and healthy ways that we can meet our increased energy needs. You will leave this conversation empowered to safely up your macro’s when the time is right and fuel your movement with confidence!
