Description

“Veganism is not just about personal health or animal welfare, it is about social justice and creating a more conscious society,” according to Dr. Will Tuttle, best-selling author of The World Peace Diet; Eating for Spiritual Health and Social Harmony. Dr. Tuttle shares his spiritual exploration journey with Dr. Frank Sabatino, ranging from his interest in philosophy to veganism and religious traditions. As Dr. Tuttle discusses his experience living in a monastery as a Zen Monk in Korea and how this influenced his connection with nature, meditation, and inner silence. Dr. Tuttle talks about the criticisms he encountered in the vegan community but also how he was inspired by more than 900 vegans during his time. He highlights the importance of understanding the consequences of animal agriculture and how it is affecting our culture and the world we live in. In the book The World Peace Diet, Dr. Tuttle argues that our culture's food system is based on violence, domination, and exploitation of animals, which has far-reaching consequences for human health, the environment, and social justice.  Further, he suggests that our food choices reflect and shape our values, attitudes, and beliefs and that we need to shift toward a more compassionate and conscious way of eating. The World Peace Diet explores the connections between food, culture, spirituality, and social change, drawing on insights from philosophy, psychology, ecology, and other disciplines. It offers a vision of a more harmonious and integrated world, where people live in harmony with each other and with nature, and where all beings are respected and valued and to keep in mind that "We need to be aware of the consequences of our actions and how they affect others, whether they are animals, other humans, or the planet." During this engaging conversation, Dr. Tuttle helps us understand the interconnectedness of our society, food, and the source of our problems.  In addition, they dig deep into the importance of awareness and compassion toward all sentient beings, the impact of veganism on personal and societal transformation, and the role of spirituality in our relationship with food and the world around us and of which what each of us can do, today and every day, to effectively contribute to world peace. Dr. Tuttle recommends people  "See life as an adventure. Wake up in the morning every day and give thanks for another opportunity to be part of the solution. Let life shine and as we do that we pray for a better world for all of us." www.HealthScience.org/podcast
