Description

EPISODE 142 - Clark, John, and Will kick off the show by rating their FOMO level on Shohei Ohtani baseball cards and whether they are looking to buy high on any of his cards.
Then for Hobby Headlines, the guys get into the recent news that Fanatics/Topps is essentially restricting any Topps account holders to sell their allocation of products directly to consumers in a physical retail, bricks and mortar store. It was also stated the local card stores with Topps product allocation would not be allowed to resell them online or how most are seeing this is that those Topps account holders can’t use the product they receive for breaks unless approved by Topps themselves. They discuss what that might mean for local card stores, the price of hobby boxes, and the future of Fanatics Live.
Then Clark hosts another round of "Quiz Show" asking John and Will various questions about the hobby such as, Is the Matt Thaiss Topps Chrome autograph rookie card, which he inscribed “I am sorry that this is not Mike Trout" real or fake?; Which 2 teams in the NBA never had any trading card of one of their players sell for more than $60,000; Which player in the NBA Finals had the highest sale volume of sports cards over the last 12 months?
The guys end off the show with the regular weekly Pick 1 segment where each of them put up two cards and they debate which one they would invest in. The Pick 1 pairs this week include: Erling Haaland Topps Chrome rookie card vs. Max Verstappen Topps Chrome rookie card; Victor Wembanyama rookie card vs. Scoot Henderson/Caitlin Clark/Brandon Miller rookie cards; Mike Trout Bowman Chrome rookie autograph card vs. Shohei Ohtani Bowman Chrome rookie autograph card.
