Description

Marc David coaches 43-year-old clinical nutritionist, Jenny, who would like lose twenty pounds. At 14, Jenny moved to the United States from Russia, and almost immediately gained weight, which she attributes to the stress of relocating to a new country. Since then, Jenny has always been able to lose weight, but during times of stress, puts it right back on again.    As many health professionals can attest, Jenny feels a certain pressure to conform to ideas of what a nutritionist or dietitian should look like. But her real concern is the potential long-term health consequences of holding additional weight, particularly as she enters menopause in the coming years … a time when many women can experience unwanted weight gain. Jenny shares that feeling satiated or “full” is usually her signal that she’s eaten enough food. But over the last few years, it’s been harder to reach that feeling of fullness … causing her to overeat.    In this episode, Marc explores: The role of stress in our metabolism; Reframing the desire for “fullness” to desire for sensation, pleasure, and experience; How the fear of weight gain is a viral fear (ie. you didn’t create it, you caught it from the world around you); Why it’s essential to stop making ourselves wrong for loving food; Opening ourselves up to non-dietary avenues for pleasure and embodiment; And more… ---------------   Learn more about us at The Institute for the Psychology of Eating: https://psychologyofeating.com/    We’re now enrolling for The Mind Body Eating Coach Certification Training.
