Description

Overcoming Resistance to Improving Our Health In today’s episode, we explore a topic that many will relate to: wanting to improve one’s health, but struggling with resistance to making healthy changes. As Cheryl’s guest coaching session with eating psychology teacher Marc David demonstrates, changing our lifestyle can be challenging — particularly when our loved ones aren’t making similar healthy food choices. At 51, Cheryl reports that she’s carrying some extra weight around her midsection, which she’d like to let go of. She’s been trained in Marc’s Mind Body Eating Coach Certification Training, where she learned a lot about the nuances of behavior change and has moved away from tired approaches that focus on notions of “good” and “bad” foods, calorie restriction, and “calories-in” and “calories-out.”    But after visiting a functional nutritionist who has given her some strict nutrition instructions and a long list of supplements to take each day, she’s at a crossroads. She doesn’t want to follow all of her nutritionist’s advice and believes that her pattern of resisting things that are good for her is at fault. Marc turns the conversation upside down, pointing out to Cheryl that sometimes what seems like resistance is something else entirely. Tune in to hear the insights Marc has for Cheryl and the rest of us who feel like we sometimes can’t get out of our own way.   With his dual training in clinical nutrition and psychology, Marc David, M.A., has spent the last 40 years helping people around the world heal their relationship with food.
