Description

Have you ever wondered how or why some people surrounded themselves with all successful people? They worked for it. Are there people you can think of that you’ve tried in the past to “network” with and the relationship fell flat? No worries, it’s happened to all of us. Have you tried getting your foot in the door only for it to be slammed on? Ohhh yeah baby, it HURTS!   There is an art to networking & I believe if you have enough patience and can grab people’s attention, you can build a relationship with anyone.   Today’s podcast I hope to help you all not only get your foot in the door but also build genuine friendships along the way.   Topics : Whether you’re looking for a job, need help or just want to be in the right room with the right people… there is always a way. Lessons from networking when building genuine relationships with people : (1) Plant The Seed : When it comes to getting the attention of someone, be creative. Send the cold e-mail, slide thru the DM and find a way to provide value to them. No matter what, be respectful and mindful of their time… they will appreciate that. (2) Gently Water It : Once our foot is in the door, we need to be extremely gentle. We don’t ask for favors or ask them to connect us to their friend. We congratulate them along their journey, we step in when the opportunity arises and we find ways to help when appropriate. (3) Watch It Grow : Genuine relationships take a long time to grow into something real. So long as we have patience and never overstep our boundary, it’ll grow into something beautiful with time. Challenge for the listeners Text someone you connected with in the past 12 months & tell them how they inspire you within 3-4 sentences Questions from The BMC Erick : How to maintain a relationship if you don’t live in the same city?” Shlomo : “How to find the right contact info for the right people and how to cold start a conversation with them?” Jonathan Williams : You’re moving to a new city, what’s the first thing you do?
