Miami's second round of June official visits for class of 2023 recruiting was an eventful one. It also coincided with Mario Cristobal's football camp and the 7 v 7 high school tournament. The headliner on campus this weekend was 5-star defensive lineman David Hicks Jr. out of Texas. He visited with his father, a former NFL player, and had great things to say about The U afterwards. Reports indicate that Hicks' decision will have little to do with location or nightlife and everything to do with finding the best possible scheme fit, coaching fit, and the place to give him the best route to the NFL.
Also visiting over the weekend were 3-star tight end Reid Mikeska from Texas and 3-star quarterback Emory Williams from the Florida panhandle. Mikeska, a former Clemson commit, had an amazing visit by all accounts and Miami sees some positive momentum for his commitment. Williams had a strong workout with Miami QB coach Frank Ponce and admitted Miami is among the top schools on his wish list. He has been given an offer, so the ball is in his court. Host Alex Donno theorizes that Williams will likely see what 4-star QB Jaden Rashada decides (as he's considering Miami) on June 18th before he finalizes his plans.
Donno reacts to a listener poll to decide which of Miami's home games in 2022 is the "biggest." Despite matchups with Pitt and UNC potentially being pivotal for the Coastal division title, Donno and most of our listeners feel strongly that the FSU rivalry game is the biggest home game this season by a country mile. Meanwhile, 5 of Miami's conference games this season are being considered among the top 10 ACC games in 2022 according to 247 Sports.
