On this week's episode of Beauty Bytes with Dr. Kay: Secrets of a Plastic Surgeon, I talk about motherhood and medicine. If you're in the medical field and you're wondering if you can also be manage being a mom, this podcast is for you! When I was deciding on a career in medicine, being able to have kids was definitely a concern. I had really great role models, starting within my own family. I'm a third generation female physician, following my great-grandmother and my own mother! My residency was very competitive but I was lucky to be surrounded by some amazing women. My female professors and peers in my residency program had kids and showed me that it was possible to balance everything with some good time management! Remember, you lose fertility starting in your 30s, so it's never too early to start thinking about fertility! In honor of Mother's Day coming up, I share some tips and tricks about balancing motherhood and being a doctor!
