Relationships can sometimes be so complex and at times very confusing and can lead to some very catastrophic conclusions. Especially, when people who are clueless about the self imposed traps that they fall into, due to their failure to keep things in their proper perspective and at times in protective custody. The idea of dating, love and marriage can be the blinding veil that prevent people from paying attention to the signs that say’s; hold on, you’re not ready for any of this. In this book Dating is For Dummies, Shawn Tyrell so masterfully gives us a literary composition of carefully orchestrated truth and inspired wisdom regarding the life of dating.

This book as small as it may appear gives magnified exposure to so many positive and safety guardrails that can help any person who’s considering dating, to do one or all of the following. Detour, delay, discipline, back up, bow out, run, reconsider or recalibrate while rethinking. You see it’s your right to do either of the above, because when you are not intentional and strategic in considering something so valuable to your life, you can set yourself up for an epic life failure. I’m not sharing this from a position of elevation or authority. My aim is to testify that I am living evidence that when Jesus died for us, the veil to the temple was torn, meaning we no longer have to rely on a priest to interpret what God is saying or doing. The good news the church was mandated to spread is that we now have direct access to the KING, and for those who choose to accept… the role of the Priest.

In complete transparency, this unedited manuscript took 9 years to compose when it should have only taken me 9 days. I did everything I could think of to avoid writing this book or attaching my name to the topic of relationship. I mean, what does a divorced, radio show host (at the time) know about finding, nurturing, and sustaining real love in a manner that God would bless and approve? I’m good at marketing, excellent at teambuilding, and good luck finding someone better at providing a memorable guest experience, why would God choose me to write a book? And of all topics, why relationships? Ghostwriters either rejected this project outright or took flight with my money. Editors offered grammar and punctuation advice but provided no guidance on content or structure. God made it clear that this was a project for me to create and for you to complete.

The principle states, One man plants, one man waters, and God gives the increase. This unedited manuscript is the seed, and since relationships are formed by two unique individuals, your role will be to water the seed. Leave the harvest to God.

Over the next few chapters, I will make references to biblical accounts and extract principles that inspired this revelation on dating, friendship, and love. However, in most cases, I will refrain from citing specific scriptures and biblical addresses until the final editing.

It is also important for me to disclose that my frequent references to God, the bible and scripture is not tied to religion. For clarity, religion is man’s interpretation on how to get closer to God. Jesus’ number one opposition on earth was religion and it killed Him. Our conversation today is about God’s design for relationships… with Him and with each other.
