A Zombie Summer School Diaries Book 3 - Mark Mulle

Day Two: Friends in Different Places

    Dear Diary,

My two best friends in the world are Grunt and Snow. I’ve known Grunt for pretty much my entire life. We did a pretty good job of helping each other get into summer school. We used to skip classes all of the time together, and it turns out that when you skip class a lot you don’t learn much. Grunt and I have our ups and downs, but we always end up being best friends in the end.

I only met Snow in my history class this summer. She had transferred to my school in the middle of the school year, so she had trouble keeping up in class. She’s a lot different than Grunt. We never have any fights or anything like that. She’s just a nice girl. I know that I can always count on her.

The one flaw with my best friends is that they are great at gym class, meaning that they show up. Instead of suffering in gym class with me this summer, Grunt is going to be taking an English class, and Snow is taking a math class. I did pretty well in those classes during the school year, so I don’t need to redo those. I just really hate gym class, so I never showed up. It’s just that zombies are a lot slower than most monsters, which means that we tend to get picked on the most. Now I’m going to have to show up to gym class every weekday this month if I want to pass the class.

My first gym class starts tomorrow at dusk. I hope that the kids in the summer gym class are nicer than the ones who are in the class during the school year. I guess the kids who failed gym class during the school year must feel the same way about gym class as I do, so maybe we’ll get along. I guess I’ll just have to wait until tomorrow to find out. I’ll write all about it tomorrow.

Day Three: The First Day of Gym

    Dear Diary,

Is it hot in here or is it just me? I said as I walked into the gym today. I thought it was a little bit of a funny joke, but Mr. Inferno didn’t agree.

I think it’s just me, he said in reply to my joke.

I had never seen a real-life blaze until today. I live in the Overworld, and most blazes tend to live in the Nether. I had seen some in pictures before, but it was different to see one floating right next to me. I don’t know what made him qualified to teach a gym class, but if I had to guess I would say that he probably could scare kids into exercising. It wasn’t that Mr. Inferno looked like a mean guy, but he sure did look like a scary guy. He was a ball of floating fire with eyes. I had no idea how he wasn’t setting the whole building on fire by just being there.
