    Dear Diary,

My name is Ugh. I’m a zombie, and I’m going into my third month of middle school at an all-monster school. It’s been pretty great so far, but I had to put in a lot of hard work to get here. Last summer I had to spend all of my time in summer school. It was rough, and I only got weekends off. It wasn’t all bad, though.

I had some crazy and cool teachers, and I even made a few friends. One of the coolest teachers was an ancient skeleton named Ms. Skele. She was so old that she was actually in some important wars that are in history books. In that class, I met one of my best friends: Snow. My best friend Grunt was in that class, too. We skipped a lot of classes together in elementary school, so we were stuck in most of our summer school classes together. Grunt and I got into some fights in my science class during summer school. He was upset that I was doing better than him in class, but that was only because the teacher, Miss Enchantment, was tutoring me. She was strict but pretty cool. My last class was a gym class. Snow and Grunt weren’t in that class, but I met two new friends named Tibby and Will. At first, I hated the class, but eventually, I found some sports that I liked, which made the class a lot more fun than I ever would have thought.

Once I got into middle school, I knew that all the hard work I put in during summer school was worth it. The craziness didn’t stop just because the school year started, though. I have one funny teacher named Mr. Nocab. He’s a pigman who is in charge of the home
