    Introduction

Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.- Audre Lorde

Black Women are born with incredible emotional and spiritual resources. Our emotions are the powerful driving force of our internal and external lives. Together with our thoughts and actions, they are an essential key to manifesting our current realities.

Thoughts and feelings are energy, and energy creates everything. When we experience shame, self-judgment, and low self-worth and self-love, our emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual energies become highly unbalanced.

This energetic state of disharmony negatively affects all areas of our lives, including our relationships and careers.

Adding onto this, the unique daily stressors and inherited generational traumas we face as melanated Women heightens our need for emotional self-care.

The purpose of this book is to guide you on a journey of reclaiming the Divine Feminine qualities of self-love and self-acceptance. This will allow you to unlock your potential, purpose, and worthiness.

I am honored to be walking you through each step as you heal yourself back to wholeness.

The tools provided will help you to preserve your sacred energy and become the most high vibrational, fulfilled version of yourself.

    Let’s dive right into it!

Chapter 1: Emotion—The Expression of the Soul

As Black Women, we are the creators of our own reality. We create our own destiny. Our external reality is often a direct reflection of our internal state—this is how powerful our emotions and thoughts are when it comes to manifesting the lives we live.

Our soul is considered to be the power source for our body. Likewise, our emotions are the fuel for our souls. When we begin to unravel the layers that make up who we are as Black Women, we discover that a healthy and well-regulated emotional foundation is the hidden key to a fulfilling life.

In the alternative branch of health known as holistic healing, we often hear about the mind-body-soul connection. While nurturing and balancing each area is crucial for our overall well-being, the emotional aspect—the ultimate centerpiece—tends to be overlooked.

When we feel good, we have more energy, strength, and vitality. We have a better overall experience and perception of life and the challenges we face as Black Women. Taking  a deeper look at our relationship with our emotions becomes a necessity, not a luxury.

When we are in an unbalanced or emotionally dysregulated state, we have less energy and less strength to overcome any of the challenges that come our way. We also harbor unprocessed trauma—minor or large—that manifests as blockages within our bodies, because of this. This creates an often painful loop of dissatisfaction and self-shaming, as our internal chaos is mirrored in our external reality.

The energy of your thoughts, emotions, and actions is in fact creating your reality. As a melanated queen, you get to ask yourself: what kind of life do I want to lead?

The answer lies within each Black Woman, and each path chosen is unique, however the results are always rewarding. As soon as you take the first step to changing your  mental, emotional, and habitual patterns, your life will begin to transform in every aspect imaginable!

This means that if you want something different from what you are experiencing in your life right now, you have to change the way you think and feel about yourself first.

Let’s begin this journey of renewed self-love by taking a deeper look at our emotional power, and how we can harness this divine source of life.

    Life Force Energy

IF YOU ARE FAMILIAR with the modern spiritual community for Black Women, you have likely come across the idea of life force energy before.

Life force energy is the innate energy within every Black Woman that comes directly from the source of existence. Some call this source energy the divine Creatrix, God or Goddess, or simply the Universe. Whichever terminology resonates with you best, this is the energy that birthed the entire cosmos and it exists in every melanated Woman as her own unique life force energy.

Life force energy helps us live and breathe. It is what keeps us moving, keeps us in a state of growth and development, and makes our bodies, minds, and spirits function for our ultimate survival and joy (Davis, n.d.).

This energy is a vital part of our being that is constantly replenished by the sun and all other natural resources. As melanated beings, we absorb the healing energies that exist around us and use them for our own well-being and personal expansion.

Like any energy, our life force can fall out of harmonious alignment. This is often due to the effects of the stressors of life that we don’t deal with effectively.

If you’re often feeling anxious, low, or lacking in the confidence needed to go after your desires, it’s likely because your life force energy isn’t flowing as it should be. You may have developed emotional, mental, and even spiritual blocks that are preventing you from living in an optimum state. This also stops you from perceiving yourself through a lens of loving kindness and self-worth. The latter qualities are the birth right of every Black Woman, and if you are struggling to experience them, a healing practice is likely necessary.

When we’re healthy, our life force energy is neither excessive nor insufficient. It flows through our bodies freely and easily. We feel confident, happy, and like we have all the time in the world and all the skills necessary to achieve everything we want to.

The first step in balancing your life force energy is taking care of yourself both physically and emotionally.

We know that it’s important to eat well, get enough rest, exercise regularly, and get enough sleep each night for all our bodily processes to function as they are supposed to. Once you’ve taken care of yourself physically, however, it’s important to take care of yourself emotionally too.

There are certain tools we can begin using to regulate our emotions and enhance the flow of our life force energy.
