The title of this devotional may seem as if it is for strong wives. However, it is for wives who have lost their fight. They are weighed down with weariness, worry, and wounds, and it feels like they cannot continue with how things are going. I can imagine you want to hold on to see what the end is going to be, but it seems as if the end has come. This devotional is for you!

The purpose of this devotion is twofold - to stir you to a place of strength and renewed life. Also, to provide you with a guide to help with strengthening your prayer life and increasing your engagement with the Word of God. I believe that victory is yours – you will not be defeated!

The enemy’s strong attack on marriages has caused many to fail. I have personally witnessed this in many of my friends and families’ marriages, as well as in my own when I was tempted to call it quits. While seeking an answer from God and equipping myself to be a victorious wife, I learned how the wife can be used as a vessel to sustain and restore marriage. I have witnessed firsthand how the faithful and fervent prayer of a wife can change the atmosphere of her home, the heart of her husband, and bring healing to her marriage. You will see that as I share my testimony throughout this devotional.

W.I.F.E is an acronym for Wives Interceding in Faith and Expectancy. I am a witness that God can use the wife as a vessel of light and restoration, bringing the institution of marriage back to its esteemed place. It happens when we commit ourselves to walking in our role as wife according to God’s Word. One of my favorite scriptures that supports this truth is Matthew 5:14-15 – Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. It gives me the confidence that the wife can be an influence in her household, doing it God’s way, getting God’s results!

This devotional is not about presenting the perfect formula for an improved marriage. However, it is about wives who believe in the power of prayer and are willing to apply this principle on behalf of their marriage.

During this journey, you will focus on renewing your mind, cleansing your heart, and strengthening your spirit. The world has presented a skewed image of the role of the wife, which has shaped our thinking, invaded many Christian marriages, causing strife, turmoil, and ultimately divorce. I want to encourage wives to operate as a wife of the Word, and not a wife of the world. When you renew your thinking about your role, you will experience transformation for yourself and your marriage.

Not only is it important for your mind to be renewed, but your heart to be cleansed as well. If you are holding on to unforgiveness, bitterness, and hurt it could prevent you from experiencing all the beauty that God has in store for your marriage. The hurt in your heart convinces you that divorce is the best option. When we allow our hearts to be healed, we open the door for the Holy Spirit to come in and minister to us, and through us.

A personal testimony - After about 5 years into my marriage, I was disappointed with my situation, and I was convinced that God wanted better for me. I had grown up around loving and lasting marriages. At that time, my parents had been married for almost 35 years, so I knew it was possible. However, I had convinced myself that maybe I was married to the wrong person. One day during my prayer time, which had been reduced to me complaining to God about my husband. I audibly heard God say, You are putting so much effort into trying to make your husband into the right person; if you put that same effort into you being the right person, things will get better. I was at a loss for words (which is rare for me) because the voice was so clear and there was no one else in the room, and because I felt so guilty, and I knew God was right.

God has truly changed my mind about me, my husband and my
