The woods can be a delightful place for young teenagers to explore. But what if the nearest forest is riddled with mysterious savages that are neither man nor beast?

I spent ages eleven through fourteen in a rural town in Washington state known as Leavenworth. Though the population is small, the place becomes flooded with tourists, especially once winter rolls around. My older sister and I moved there with my mother after she divorced my father in 98. Immediately, I could tell he was full of courage, for he was attempting to launch himself off a steep, homemade ramp that shot him pretty darn high into the air. His name was Robbie, and he was very welcoming. He turned out to be my age exactly. I felt so relieved that I had quickly found someone to hang with because it made my upcoming first day of school feel much less
