About this ebook

Lake Monsters: Strange Encounters offers bone-chilling tales of human survival and death with mysterious creatures of the deep, murky freshwater of North America. These are the true, frightening encounters with unimaginable and elusive freshwater cryptids. Was that just underwater grass, or a slithering tentacle? A sharp rock, or the exposed scale of buried predator? A ripple in the water from trout, or something larger and more sinister?

From the Great Lakes to pristine backyard swimming pools, the next time you stare into the depths, you'll remember the fantastic and horrifying cryptids that lurk below the surface. Dive in, if you dare.

    Introduction

I must admit that gathering reports revolving around freshwater cryptids has been one of the more challenging endeavors since I began my writing career. It was actually one of the first topics I wanted to cover, but the lack of content I received via email forced me to place it on the back burner. For whatever reason, aquatic cryptids seem even rarer than the various cryptids I’ve learned so much about since my first run-in with a sasquatch in 2008. I suppose it’s not irrational to attribute that to humans spending significantly more time on land than in the water. If you’ve read many of my books, you’ll notice I’ve sprinkled a few aquatic encounter reports throughout, for I wasn’t sure what to do with them or where to place them because of their scarcity. But then I started connecting with authors who take on similar projects, and it quickly occurred to me that we could collaborate to reach a common goal.

When I first started reading the Bigfoot Horror Stories series by Steven Armstrong, I didn’t know the guy, let alone have any reason to suspect that we could eventually become business partners. But shortly after I opened my publishing company, Tom Lyons Books, I realized I should start searching for other writers and investigators to contribute to my new company. It became imperative for me to sign other credible authors who would help grow the brand, for many of my readers know my primary objective is to shed more light on the unexplained mysteries of our
