Acknowledgments & Thanks
First of all, I’d like to thank our Lord God for gifting me with the guidelines of ALOHA to create this book, and for knowing that I needed to write this book before I did.
My heartfelt thanks to my doctor and psychologist for saving my life so that I can now help save others. Thanks also to my dear sister/friend who helped me escape.
I want to thank my husband for supporting me throughout the writing and publishing of this book, and especially for loving me and checking up on me when I never went to bed because I was writing in the early morning hours.
Thanks to my children for all your love, no matter the ups and downs.
Thanks to my grandchildren: I love you with all my heart. You are such a joy to me.
Thanks to my sisters and brothers. Sister, I’m sorry for the multiple times you got me from the emergency room and I lied to you as to why I was there. I hope this book sheds some light on why. Brother, now you know why I was yelling in the apartment when you lived with me—I was losing my mind and I couldn’t say anything.
Thanks to my in-laws, aunties, uncles, cousins, and everyone who showed their love in so many ways.
Thanks to my dear friend E., for being the first to want to review my book and for giving me my first honest, heart-moving review.
And a huge thank-you to everyone who donated to my GoFundMe. I couldn’t have published this book without your generosity and support. Through your kindness, lives will be saved, and hope will be given.
God bless you all,
Phoenix Rose

Turning Fear into Faith
39756.pngYou intended it to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.
—Genesis 50:20 (NLT)
As I walked backward on crutches, my fear of falling was overcome by the fear of him coming closer and closer to me. He cornered me in our bedroom, the furthest room upstairs. I had nowhere to go. I told him, You can’t do this. You can’t keep me in here.
He knew he was safe because no one else was home. My son was with his girlfriend; my cousin was out. The only one who may have been home was his son, but I wasn’t sure. I didn’t know.
He closed the door behind him.
