I Am A Virtuous Mom - Jalecia Kofi
DAY 1
Proverbs 31:10: Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.
When I look at proverbs 31:10 I instantly think of a mom. We are truly special, God called us to the most beautiful assignment. However, this assignment is almost impossible to do without a relationship with God. The Proverbs 31 Woman pursues the wisdom of God instead of the wisdom of the world. The P31 Woman is not concerned with what seems right according to the world. Instead, she focuses on God's truth. Her biggest desire is to honor God.
When I became a mom in 2020 it was during a Global Pandemic and a time of quarantine. In the delivery room, I was only able to have my husband there to witness the birth of our son. No friends, family, not even my doula. I recall God asking me to fast and unplug during my last trimester. However, I was disobedient. I couldn’t understand at the time, unplugging from the world; I was so excited to share with my friends and family about the progress of my last trimester.
Keeping them updated on nursery decor, baby products, etc. God is an intentional God. The reason he asked me to unplug was to prepare my mind, soul, and spirit for this new journey and assignment I was about to experience. Shortly after giving birth, I experienced traumatic Postpartum Depression.
I immediately became angry, simply because I felt I did everything correctly. I prayed and I prepared myself spiritually and emotionally, so I thought. The one thing I didn’t do was be obedient to the Holy Spirit. The relationship with God and myself needed to be strengthened by unplugging from the world. Therefore, I would be spiritually prepared to be the mom, he needed me to become for my son and the wife he needed me to be for my husband.
I instantly started to focus on God and strengthen our relationship. I truly thank God for his unconditional, everlasting love he has for us. Although we are disobedient at times; he loves us the same. His love never fails nor forsaken.
PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father,
I thank you for giving me the assignment of becoming a mom. Thank you for promoting me to this position because you knew I was qualified for this assignment. I am honored. With you, I can do all things. I pray you continue to give grace during this journey of motherhood. I pray you to continue to Lead, Guide, protect and profess as I follow you. Amen.
DAY 2
Proverbs 31:25: She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.
In Proverbs 31:25; This Proverbs 31 woman is remarkably busy and productive, yet she is not stressed and instead, she laughs. Being able to laugh is a measuring stick for your stress. No one laughs when they are at the peak of depression or anxiety. It's easy to look at others’ lives and compare them to our own, thinking that we are not where we should be. But this verse tells us to simply laugh without fear of the future.
Meaning it's handled & already been taken care of. And we can laugh and be fabulous moms, daughters, sisters, friends, and Wives!
I remember when I was at the peak of my Postpartum Depression; I would see these moms on Instagram stating how easy mom life is and how nursing isn’t stressful and they’re already planning their next child.
