The Art of Energy Psychology and Healing - Dr. Ankita Kashyap

    Introduction to Energy Psychology

The energy psychology is a subfield of psychology that deals with study of the relationship between the body's energy systems and emotional, psychological, and physical health. The application of energy psychology balances the body's energy systems and reduces signs of emotional and physical suffering by using methods like tapping on acupressure points, visualisation, and affirmations etc.

Energy psychology has a long history that can be traced back to the thousands of years that Eastern cultures have been using acupressure, acupuncture, yoga etc. as forms of traditional medicine. American psychologist Roger Callahan created Thought Field Therapy (TFT) in the latter half of the 20th century, which popularised the idea of tapping on particular acupressure sites to treat emotional problems. This method served as the starting point for the creation of additional energy psychology techniques e.g. Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT).

As a complementary or alternative therapy for a number of disorders, such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, and phobias, etc., energy psychology has grown in popularity recently.

    Theoretical foundations of energy psychology

The idea of the body's energy systems and how they connect to emotional, psychological, and physical well-being is the theoretical basis of energy psychology. This viewpoint holds that imbalances or blockages in the body's energy systems cause physical and emotional ailments.

The idea that the mind and body are intimately related and that psychological and emotional states can impact physical health and vice versa is known as the mind-body connection. Tapping and visualisation are examples of energy psychology approaches that try to treat both the psychological and physical components of a problem.

Energy psychology is also predicated on the assumption that disturbances in the body's energy systems are what generate negative emotions and psychological problems, and that these disturbances may be remedied by tapping on specific acupressure spots. The energy systems of the body are thought to be balanced by these approaches, enabling the release of unfavourable emotions and the reestablishment of emotional and physical wellbeing.

    Techniques and Methods

Techniques and procedures used in energy psychology are intended to balance the body's energy systems and relieve signs of emotional and physical suffering. The following are a few of the most popular strategies and tactics:

Acupressure: Acupressure is a form of alternative medicine that involves applying pressure to specific points on the body in order to relieve pain and tension. It is based on the principles of traditional Chinese medicine and is similar to acupuncture, but instead of using needles, acupressure uses fingers, elbows, or other tools to apply pressure to the points, known as acupoints. The goal of acupressure is to balance the body's energy and promote healing. It
