    PREFACE

Growing up in Swaziland we used to go with my father to observe a ritual called Siwasho in my language which means a cleansing and we would pray in the river. This is done by most African cults such as the one I belonged to. I never understood why we had to pray inside the river if we were praying to God. I then began to learn as I grew up and became born again that there is such a thing called the water spirit.

The Bible teaches us that we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities, powers, rulers of darkness of this age and spiritual hosts of wickedness (Eph 6: 12). In this booklet I want us to look at the second group, called powers.

Powers are a class of demons that give supernatural powers to witches, wizards, false prophets and even satanists. Some of these demons are called marine spirits. These are spirits from the water kingdom. While our God is all powerful there are other powers that

are not of God and we are to wrestle with them when they interfere in our lives. It is therefore imperative that we know about them.

Gen 49: 17 Dan shall be a serpent by the way, a viper by thepath that bites the horse’s heels so that the rider shall fall backward.

I derived the title for this book from the abovementioned passage of Scripture. Here we learn of a blessing that Israel declared over his son Dan. Although this is basically a blessing, I want us to glean some apostolic principles on how to deal with marine spirits. Marine spirits are serpentine spirits. In this book we will only deal with seven types of snakes a believer may have to deal with along the way. These snakes are in the way of the believer’s progress.

Note that a serpent bites the heels of the horse so that the rider falls backward. In Genesis chapter three God puts enmity between the serpent and the Seed of the woman. We are told that the serpent shall bite the heel of the Man Child, who is Christ. This powerful imagery gave me a simple definition of a serpent:

A serpent is an enemy of progress. Heels speak of movement and horses speak of speed. A horse can be a resource, help or anything that accelerates someone to their destination. By biting the heels the enemy either slows you down or knocks you out. Therefore the serpent bites the heels of the horse so that the rider falls backward. A serpent fights progress. In this book I will give you apostolic tools from God’s Word that will help you to have revelation knowledge on
