About this ebook

There are many stories in the Bible, both in the Old and New Testament, where the angels came to the assistance of God's people. When we are under attack from others or even demonic influences, the heavenly hosts are dispatched on our behalf to fight battles that we cannot fight and assist in securing victory in spiritual warfare. Some battles are fought in the second heaven, and in these instances, we will not necessarily see them manifesting in the Earth's realm, but we can feel the resistance and the opposition as we try to move ahead in life. As such, only angels can fight these battles in the second heaven. It is imperative that we know how to pray for this angelic assistance and have the confidence to know that God will send them. In this book, you will learn:

- A comprehensive breakdown of Psalm 91, which is a Psalm for protection.
- How to discern the difference between the Angel of the Lord and other angelic presences.
- How to create a portal in your home for the angels of heaven to come down and fight battles on your behalf.
- How to get angelic help when you need it.

Understanding these principles will allow you to win at spiritual warfare with ease and avoid toiling and weariness because you are not the one fighting the spiritual attacks. It is the Lord of Heaven's Armies and His angels.

In The Power of His Might - Nicole Murray

    Preface

This book is Volume II in a series on spiritual warfare.  It builds on the concepts and teachings in Volume I.  In this book, you will learn how angels are used to assist us in spiritual warfare, how they are dispatched, and how they help us with battles that we, ourselves, cannot fight.

    Chapter 1

    An Overview of Angels

    T

he first time angels are mentioned in the Bible is in Genesis 3:24. "So, He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life."

Angels have different classifications, and the angel in this verse is a Cherubim. We know from the Armor of God, which was covered in Volume I, that we fight against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the Heavenly realms. We know there are Cherubim (Genesis 3:24), Seraphim (Isaiah 6:2), the Four Living Creatures (Revelation 4:6), Archangels (Jude 1:9), and Angels that work with us here on Earth.

We know that the angels that work with us on Earth are known as messengers and are sent by God to warn us and to also protect us. We also have guardian angels who walk with us in our everyday lives. Then there are the Heavenly hosts (Psalm 148:2) whose primary duty is as a part of God’s army. When they come, there are many of them fighting for us against the rulers, authorities, and powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the Heavenly realms.

In this book, I will only focus on the Heavenly host and the angels who come to assist us in spiritual warfare.

    Chapter 2

    The Commander of Heaven's Armies

    G

od has many names in the Scriptures. As Christians, we accept the Trinity of God, the Father, the Son - Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. We know that they work together, but each has a separate role.

For example, Jesus came as the sacrifice and died for our sins. One of His roles is Savior. Even though the Trinity is present and a working part of the salvation process, it was Jesus who went to the cross.

Another role of Jesus is the Commander of Heaven’s armies, also known as the Lord of Hosts, the Lord of Heaven’s armies, the Angel of the Lord, or Jehovah Sabaoth. Here is a visual description of Christ coming back in Revelation 19:11 with the armies of Heaven behind Him.

Now I saw Heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies in Heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

Whenever you see the Lord of Heaven’s armies or the Commander of Heaven’s armies in the Old Testament, know that it is Jesus Christ. Yes, Jesus is in the Old Testament!

When angels are dispatched, or you pray to God for angelic assistance—it is really Jesus who is specifically in charge of the angelic army. You might wonder, If He's in charge of Heaven's armies, aren’t there occasions when He will show up as an Angel? One might reason that if Jesus is in charge of the army of angels, He would be referenced in the scriptures as an angel, too. When reading the Bible, how do we know the difference between a normal angel and Jesus manifested as an Angel?

I believe there are two ways to distinguish this, as well as clues in the text that help you determine if it is an angel or Jesus. Firstly, you must look at the way words are written in scripture. For example, the word angel--watch for the use of a capitalized A and not a lowercase a. I generally recommend that people read whichever version of the Bible is most easy for them to read and understand. However, I must admit that some versions of the Bible pay attention to details more than others. In Christendom, a group called the KJV only group will only read the King James Version and no other translation of the Bible. That is perfectly fine, and there are good reasons for that. The King James Version will clearly show the differences in capitalization when referring to Jesus as the Angel of the Lord. The same is true for the New King James Version (NKJV), the American Standard Version (ASV), and the English Standard Version (ESV). Seeing a capitalized A will clue you in that the Angel in the scriptural reference is actually Jesus Himself.

In those translations, you will also see a capitalized H for Him/His when talking about God as opposed to a lowercase h for a regular person. Of course, when reading the Bible online, you can also navigate to alternate translations to compare words and check if they are referring to God. The other way to know if you are reading about Jesus or an angel is to examine the way others in the Bible respond to the angel. The word of God tells us not to worship angels, so if the angel stops the people from worshiping him, then you know that he was not the Lord. Angels are sent from God as messengers, and God will never allow you to worship them.

Let’s look at a scripture where you can see Jesus as an Angel…

    Exodus 23:20-33

Behold, I send an Angel before you to keep you in the way and to bring you into the place which I have prepared. Beware of Him and obey His voice; do not provoke Him, for He will not pardon your transgressions; for My name is in Him. But if you indeed obey His voice and do all that I speak, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries. For My Angel will go before you and bring you in to the Amorites and the Hittites and the Perizzites and the Canaanites and the Hivites and the Jebusites; and I will cut them off. You shall not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do according to their works; but you shall utterly overthrow them and completely break down their sacred pillars.

So you shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you. No one shall suffer miscarriage or be barren in your land; I will fulfill the number of your days.

"I will send My fear before you, I will cause confusion among all the people to whom you come, and will make all your enemies turn their backs to you. And I will send hornets before you, which shall drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite, and the Hittite from before you. I will not drive them out from before you in one year, lest the land become desolate and the beasts of the field become too numerous for you. Little by little I will drive them out from before you, until you have increased, and you inherit the land. And I will set your bounds from the Red Sea to the sea, Philistia, and from the desert to the River. For I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand, and you shall drive them out before you. You shall make no]covenant with them, nor with their gods. They shall not dwell in your land,
