    About the Author

    I dedicate this book to all the wounded and hurting people in this world, to God, and to my beloved daughter whose unconditional love lit a passion in me to give a better life than the one I had.

    I gave all the journals that I wrote throughout my dysfunctional childhood to KJ DePontes. These were filled with pain, chaos, and confusion. KJ took those journals and created a roadmap, documenting my experiences as a broken, damaged little girl with no hope to the hopeful, happy and thankful woman who God stepped in and rescued.

    To be successful in life does not mean you have to change the world; it means meeting a need (regardless of the size) well and dependably over time and helping others overcome their pain and suffering from a tragic beginning.

    My life has been transformed and changed for good by the power of my beloved Creator. This book will make you cry, laugh, and fill your soul with hope and inspiration to overcome this world and become the winner within.

    Who says having a bad past can't create a great winner?

    If I can do it, so can you!

    These words were my lifeline and supported me through hard times, when I was drowning in pain and confusion.

    It is my hope that you will find comfort in them as well.

    My life was almost snuffed out,

    The enemy was trying to kill, steal and destroy me!

    Chaos and confusion became my greatest companions, my innocence was taken from me, like a Grim Reaper with an unsatisfiable desire.

    Was it by chance my life was spared and saved?

    "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy;

    I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." (John 10:10)

    It felt like I was in a prison cell—dark, damp, empty, and lonely from the silence and neglect I endured. No visitors, no food, no care, no love. Why did I exist? What was the point of having me?

    Neglect is just as bad as being molested or raped, I came to find out later from experts in psychology. I was innocent. I didn't deserve such severe punishment, getting locked down to these walls that were closing in on me. I was a victim, yet convicted as a criminal until the prison door was unlocked and pushed wide open to set me free. I was scared and afraid to be free. I only knew what prison walls felt like, but deep within my soul, I knew there was a little girl within me that needed help. She needed to be set free and given a chance to become brave and strong. I needed to help her find the courage to take the first steps out of that hellish prison. There is only one who has a key to give freedom like this. I couldn't outperform my own belief systems. I had to learn a new way to burst out of the walls within my darkness and the limiting belief system in my mind. I needed a new belief system, and He came and gave me all that I needed and more.

    Though my father and mother forsake me,

    the Lord will receive me. (Psalm 27:10)

    So do not fear, for I am with you;

    do not be dismayed, for I am your God.

    I will strengthen you and help you;

    I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41:10)

    In a desert land he found him,

    in a barren and howling waste.

    He shielded him and cared for him;

    He guarded him as the apple of his eye. (Deuteronomy 32:10)
