About this ebook

Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha are the fourfold goals of human existence. These are the essence of Hindu way of life. The great Hindu Seers and Sages of epic age namely Parashar, Varahmihir, Garga, Jaimini and many others clearly laid down the theory and details of these goals thinking, that the real purpose of human life lies in them. They are defined as below: 1. Dharma (Religion) means duty, righteousness and virtue. 2. Artha (Wealth) means success, prosperity and fame. 3. Kama (Desires) means fun, pleasures and sensual delight. 4. Moksha (Salvation) means liberation, spiritual performances and union with God. The first three out of these constitute the path of an active life called 'Pravrati' the nature and temperament. This Pravrati is to be gained in domestic life being a member of the society. He is to discharge his duties as a householder and a citizen. He is to acquire wealth, gratify his legitimate desires and at the same time practice virtue. The first stage of life, for which his whole career has been a preparation, is one of 'Nivrati' the complete surrender and union with God and hence the Moksha (Salvation). Thus, this formula Dharma, Artha, Kama, Moksha, that indicates the ideal of a complete life taking into account of all facts of human nature without doing violence either to the flesh or to the spirit, is the base of Vedic astrology

    Fourfold goals of human existence

Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha are the fourfold goals of human existence. These are the essence of Hindu way of life. The great Hindu Seers and Sages of epic age namely Parashar, Varahmihir, Garga, Jaimini and many others clearly laid down the theory and details of these goals thinking, that the real purpose of human life lies in them. They are defined as below:

He is to acquire wealth, gratify his

legitimate desires and at the same time practice virtue. The first stage of life, for which his whole career has been a preparation, is one of 'Nivrati' the complete surrender and union with God and hence the Moksha (Salvation). Thus, this formula Dharma, Artha, Kama, Moksha, that

indicates the ideal of a complete life taking into account of all facts of human nature without doing violence either to the flesh or to the spirit, is the base of Vedic astrology.

Fourfold goals place in a Birth chart

In Vedic Astrology these goals are given the right place in a birth chart, therefore 1st, 5th, 9th, houses are called Dharma houses, 2nd, 6th, 10th houses Artha houses, 3rd, 7th, 11th houses Kama houses and 4th, 8th,

12th houses Moksha houses. Kama sense gratification, is the lowest state of existence for the living entity. Artha means economics development. It becomes helpful for the human being to achieve and maintain sense

gratification and Dharma turning away from animal life and accepting I adopting godliness, the path to Moksha.

Vedic astrology is considered to be one of the oldest, most accurate and consistent form of astrology all over the world. Though some people may argue yet there is no place for arguments as per the following shlok:

    " Apratyakshani Shastrani Vivadasteshu Kevalam,

    PratyakshamJyotisham Shastram Chandrarkayu yatra Sakshino."

It means that Jyotish is the practical science of time, where the Sun and the Moon witness the mankind on earth. The daily changes in weather and timely eclipses of Sun and Moon affect and create problems in the way of man's daily life. Hence it is very much the true science. It is

generally regarded predictive in nature and essential to the conduct of any of the events of life since early birth such as child's name, his/her early education, his/her admission to school, his/her timely marriage, applying for a post or a job, starting a new business, joining a service, buying I building a new house, participating in politics I elections, traveling

abroad and so on. To millions of Hindus the birth chart called Janam Kundli is an invaluable possession for a man or woman from the time of
