About this ebook

I remember so many times in my life when I was begging for anything from God. A sign, a word, a voice, a message, or merely a step for the next hour of my life.

Waiting was an endless void to the pages of my life, leaving me feeling pointless- a waste of time and purpose. If God had plans for me, why was I sitting still?

What I didn't know at the time was that I was actually living out the plans of God. I'm going to show you what waiting means to God, what to do when He's asking you to wait, and why it may be the biggest blessing He could give you.

"Waiting is the anticipation of the impossible to be delivered by the One who makes all things possible." -The Wait

God's not done with you.

God love you and hold you,

    The Wait - Emma Livengood

    Introduction

    _________

Where is God? The question thunders through my mind. I hear this question over and over on the streets, in my home, and in my mind. The problem is, He is not a physical voice that gives us answers audible. Either I am waiting on a college application to be accepted or hearing a friend tell me how she is waiting on God to bring her a spouse. Everything would be resolved if He would show up and verbally tell us the answers, right? The problem is that whether or not you are a believer, you still struggle with waiting. The truth is, though, that waiting has a purpose. It is not a lost cause or a purposeless way to torture you with anticipation and agony for no reason. Remember when you were little, watching your parents wrap Christmas presents and you were overcome with thoughts about what it could be? But you had to wait to open them. You were not waiting for no reason, either. It was for a good surprise on Christmas morning for the understanding of your joy and anticipation to become its reality. Waiting is a gift which God gives us to deepen our understanding and know the truth that is before us of the purpose to waiting. A deeper reason, a deeper gift than we might imagine…one which I will reveal my thoughts on later in this book. My mind has no doubt that you picked up this book because you were hungry for answers which seem to be nonexistent. Waiting, unfortunately, as everyone knows, is all too familiar. Things as small as Wi-Fi that refuses to work, waiting for a late plane which has delayed your entire day, to more serious things like a job application which is immensely important to your future, a family member to be released from the hospital, or waiting to be married to the love of your life. All these things require an act of waiting~ which takes hold of everyday life, as well as your mind and soul. It is clear that you do not have to be a Christian to read this book. Yes, I am writing it based on the Bible as well as on personal experience to portray a message which I believe is the answer to why wait?. However, all of humanity is equal in one important matter and one vital question. Such being man’s utter need for Christ, and their mission to find the answer to the meaning of life, and how might I wait- will there be an end? You see, man’s soul is designed to desire to be eternal and to live eternally with its maker. Man was not destined to live on the hamster wheel of eat, sleep, work, repeat- watch videos, make babies and die. Everyone might agree that money and partying can only keep your happiness or contentment satisfied for so long. A luxurious house, a sporty car, a Chanel packed closet, a bigger TV, a fuller wallet- once everything you lived for morphed into nothing you would die for. Simply put, physical things lose their charm overnight while the desire for more grows until you acquire it. Continually, our insatiable desires never cease. Even as a Christian, follower of my Lord Jesus Christ, the desire within me to be in eternity forever with Him furthers in restlessness with each passing day. If you are someone who does not trust in the Saving Grace of Jesus reading this book, I encourage you to continue with an open mind, as the only solution to the wait is Christ. Waiting is a concept that every person wrestles with, and few know how to handle.

    The Most Important Question

    ______

Her tears rolled down her face in a flow of gracious feelings, thoughtful words, and loving revelation. Her husband, Gabe, wrapped his soulful arms around her with a shaking hand lifted in the air reaching towards the loving God who had saved his wife’s soul. Isabelle’s heart wept with her eyes in an adoration and gratitude which she had never felt before. He did it. He rescued her from the path toward hell, and the pit of darkness she tried to climb out of by herself for her entire life. In was in that moment, she felt the blanket of peace that surpasses all understanding being wrapped around her. The peace that God laid on her heart and mind. A memory came to her; a time so dark, a time so dreary; one she wanted nothing more than to forget. A feeling she so pleaded she could cut loose. The feeling of thinking of God as angry, distant, unforgiving, and hateful. A connection she learned to make to the church she grew up in. The same church she went to every Sunday with her parents when she was a little girl. She wore her shiniest black shoes and her baby pink silk and tool dress with a little satin bow tied in the back. Her hair was perfectly laid, but she did not find any difference between that and any other outfit. The only connection she had known to God was that her parents loved Him- or, at least, they went to church. As she had grown older going to church, she felt cold eyes burning a hole through her back as she walked by, judging her. She winced at the thought of everything that had happened back then. She had drawn this idea in her head that because some of the people in the old church were hateful, judgmental, and unforgiving in their knowledge of her sins, that somehow, God was the exact same way. She had stiff-armed Him, ignored Him. Yet, here she was, finding herself in the grace of His Goodness, in the light of the revelation, her blind heart given the eyes to see Him in truth of who He actually was. It was in a moment like this that Isabelle Moore was saved.

There comes a time when all people will ask one question- who is God? This question will develop your thoughts, and your actions, your future, and your plans. Who will shape your life? Prior to identifying why the wait is happening, you have to realize who God actually is. But, to comprehend the vastness of the Holy God of the billions of galaxies is precisely impossible: God- He is the being of greatness- the first and only Holy one to ever walk this very earth. He designed the very idea of the human cell, the biggest star, and the vastness of the universe. Here is the kicker- He created everything seen and unseen by speaking! The Bible says, Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand, measured heaven with a span... Isaiah 40:12. To put this in context, a span is the distance, when you open your hand, from your pinky to the tip of your thumb. Can you imagine? This is God, the God who holds one billion trillion stars in the span of His hand and spoke them into existence made you in His image, knows you inside and out, and loves you more than anyone could ever attempt to love you. To me, that is stunning, and it is exceptionally challenging to grasp. No one could entirely appreciate it, but it makes me feel small. In our world, our troubles appear colossal. They appear to us as though no one could understand it, and occasionally, it feels as though that God’s death was inadequate for a sin we committed or what we are going through. But what a lie from the devil that is! When I cease to see just how massive He is and try to comprehend that He made me in His image, it overwhelmingly astonishes me. The events you go through and wait on are not too great for God. You are His child, He’s your Father, and He loves you. He allows things to occur or not occur so that you ultimately could adore Him more. It is hard to understand, I know.
