BLACK SCREEN:

TV static, then a pop.

STUDIO BACKLOT - NIGHT

Behind barbed-wire fencing, the hum of large broadcast dishes sweep the heavens.

A shooting star presents itself. 

BLACK SCREEN:

More static.  Another pop. 

Darkness flickers to life with hundreds of TV monitors, continually rolling brief flashes of every show from TV's inception to the present.

EXT. SMALL APARTMENT COMPLEX - DAY

Held together by faded stucco, the overgrown hump of wood and nails sits amid the faces of modern society.

INT. APARTMENT - LIVING ROOM

The low-rent job desperately needs a new - everything.

Computers litter tables pushed against the walls, most torn apart.     

On the door, posters of intergalactic ships surround a worn dart board.

A corner table spills rejection letters, photographs, and packaging for a software product titled Don't Be Afraid. 

Rosco, 27, lies motionless on the couch with a pillow taped tightly over his face and around his head.

Amid the computers, an old B&W TV plays The Andy Griffith Show.

His cell rings then goes silent. 

There is no movement from the lump.

The phone rings again.

    Rosco

    (muffled)

  Go the hell away!

The ringing continues like a high-pitched echo, wanting to escape from a  dental office.

    Rosco
