Analyzing Labor Education in the Prophetic Books of Isaiah - Bible Sermons

Introduction to the Book of Isaiah

The prophet Isaiah received a vision of God-his great power, his glorious majesty, and his purifying holiness. The glimpse of God's majesty led him to a humbling perspective of himself and his society. " Woe is me, for I am lost, for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell among a people of unclean lips " (Is 6 : 5 ). Seeing who God is in Scripture can cleanse our self-importance and the inadequacy of our lip service in worship, and give us a clear picture of what is truly valuable in life. This changes the way we live, the way we do business, and the way we worship. When we understand who God is and where we stand in relation to Him, our values and work ethic are transformed.

The book of Isaiah in particular gives a clear and sometimes frightening picture of God's expectations for leaders. Furthermore, from Isaiah's perspective, the way we work today has value and meaning in the new creation that God promises for His people..

The Assessment of God of Israel and Judah

Most of the book shows Isaiah expressing God's assessment of Israel's failure to live up to God's covenant. Isaiah is the first of the major " literary prophets " of the Old Testament-those whose prophecies are written in books titled with each prophet's name. Some knowledge of the book of Deuteronomy is required when reading the books of the prophets, since God's mischaracterization of the leaders of Israel and Judah must be understood in light of the covenant expressed in the Law of Moses. Through Moses, God made a
