You Are The Gift - Katrina Henderson
Preface
PROVERBS CHAPTER 31 CONTAINS VERY IMPORTANT message for women. There, God is communicating his thoughts concerning what he designed a woman to be. This is what we’ve come to know as...a virtuous woman.
When God says we are fearfully and wonderfully made, he’s letting us know we are his MASTERPIECE. We are an amazing piece of work. In the beginning, God created the woman as a necessity as evidenced when he said, It’s not good for man to be alone; I will make him a help meet for him
(Gen 2:18). When I first read that, I was like, Oh my God! The Bible has a mistake in it!
But we know God doesn’t make mistakes. God’s word doesn’t contain errors therein. But let me elaborate on why I thought that passage contained a mistake.
I thought the text should have been worded "help mate," instead, it’s worded "help meet." According to the dictionary, meet is a verb, and it means to come into the presence or company by chance of arrangement.
This highlights a woman’s fundamental role in life. God brought Eve into Adam’s presence, into his life, to become the source of life. She played a critical role in God’s overall plan for mankind. And it was important that she knew how valuable and important her role was.
Women bring life into this world through a sacred process. The man provides the fertilization; she incubates the egg. She provides the nourishment for the baby in her womb. During that nine month period, the woman undergoes certain changes. Her body goes through so much. That’s why that sacred time should be appreciated; it is the time a when woman displays a uniqueness and ability only she has: she’s producing life. Yes, ladies, we are God’s special masterpieces!
Of course, during those nine months, we don’t feel unique
and special. We feel sick, tired. And yet, that process teaches us a valuable lesson; it highlights the process one must go through to produce greatness. Sure, there are ups and downs, but the end result of the pregnancy, of the birthing process, is a beautiful baby.
As a woman, this same process applies when it comes to stepping into your greatness and becoming a virtuous woman. Yes, it’s a process of transformation. So give yourself grace. Give yourself time. Allow yourself to learn through your experiences. Allow God to develop you into the woman he created you to be.
With this book, the Lord urged me to communicate to you your worth, importance, and awesomeness. As you read this book, we will walk through Proverbs chapter 31 and take a look at the woman God created you to be, the woman you were born to be. Get ready for the journey Whether you are struggling with loving yourself, feeling like you’re enough, choosing a job, a partner, or a friend, the principles we’re going to lay out in this book will guide you in every situation. And it all begins with...discovering who you are so you’ll know what belongs and what doesn’t belong in your life.
PRAYER
Before I start, I want to begin with prayer. I have learned in life that prayer is our greatest resource—it’s the path of communication to the Heavenly Father. He’s the one who has the power to make all things happen on our behalves. So, let’s
