Aubrey was seated on the couch in her living room, idly flipping through channels while waiting for her husband Kevin to arrive home from work. The living room was just off of their bedroom and had a wide sliding glass door that led out onto the patio. She could hear the sounds of traffic coming from nearby, but other than that there was little noise coming from outside as the evening drew in. She leaned back against the couch with a contented sigh. She was wearing a soft t-shirt, black yoga pants, and white socks. It wasn't a sexy outfit by any means, but it felt great on her skin after a long day at the office.

She had been looking forward to having dinner with Kevin, but he'd called her to let her know that an old friend, Adam, was in town, and they were going to meet up later for drinks. Aubrey was disappointed initially, but then decided to make some use of the time by reading a book she had bought earlier in the week. Now, though, she just wanted to see him.

The sound of the front door opening drew her from her thoughts, and she turned toward the door with a smile. Kevin was standing there, dressed casually in jeans and a button-down shirt, carrying two large bags of Chinese takeout. He gave her a sheepish look before giving her a quick kiss on the lips. I'm sorry I'm late.

It's okay, she said, leaning forward to give him another kiss. You're here now.

He smiled and flopped down on the couch next to her. She took the take out bags and began setting them out on the coffee table. So how was your night?

Good, he replied. Went over to Adam's place to catch up. We hadn't seen each other in almost eight years, so we had lots to talk about.
