    INTRODUCTION

ADHD is one of the most common childhood neurodevelopmental diseases. It is typically diagnosed in childhood and might extend into adulthood. Children with ADHD may have difficulty paying attention, restraining impulsive behaviors (doing without considering the outcome), or being extremely active.

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a behavioral disorder that affects humans. People with ADHD may appear restless, have difficulty concentrating, and act on impulse.

ADHD symptoms are often seen at a young age and may become more obvious as a child's circumstances change, such as starting school.

The majority of instances are diagnosed when children are under the age of 12, however, it can be diagnosed later in life.

ADHD is sometimes misdiagnosed as a child and only discovered as an adult.

ADHD symptoms typically improve with age, but many adults who were diagnosed with the disorder at an early age continue to struggle.

Additional issues, including sleep and anxiety difficulties, may occur in people with ADHD.

One of the most frequent mental diseases affecting children is attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). ADHD symptoms include inattention (inability to maintain concentration), hyperactivity (excessive movement that is inappropriate for the situation), and impulsivity (impulsive activities that occur in the moment without deliberation). ADHD is a chronic and severe illness that affects many parts of a person's life, including academic and professional success, interpersonal connections, and daily functioning.

ADHD affects 8.4% of children and 2.5% of adults (Danielson, 2018; Simon et al., 2009). ADHD is frequently detected in school-aged children when it causes disturbance or issues with schoolwork. Because of differences in how the symptoms manifest, it is more typically diagnosed in boys than in girls. This does not, however, imply that boys are more prone to ADHD. Boys are more likely to exhibit hyperactivity and other externalizing symptoms, whereas girls are more likely to exhibit inactivity.

    CHAPTER ONE

WHAT CAUSES ATTENTION DEFICIT HYPERACTIVITY DISORDER?

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a widespread neurodevelopmental condition in children around the world, and awareness of its persistence into adulthood is growing. While ADHD is highly heritable in childhood and is mostly caused by familial factors, it appears to have a lesser heritability in adulthood, however, this is not universally agreed upon. This problem frequently co-occurs with a variety of other conditions that change between developmental stages, and various studies have employed the twin design to study these comorbidities, providing vital insights into the causes of the observed co-occurrence.

Individual characteristics such as negative emotionality, personality disorders, and temperamental factors with a prevalence of novelty-seeking appear to have a role in this symptomatology. ADHD is
