INTRODUCTION
Anytime we experience emotions, a specific area in our brain is activated. Activation of this brain area is not limited to gender.
Whether male or female, we all have functioning brains. The brain is a very complicated organ that controls and coordinates every aspect of our being. It regulates everything from simple things like blinking the eye and finger movement to sophisticated and well-coordinated actions like food digestion. Emotions are caused by activity in specific areas of the brain known as the limbic system. This system is a collection of interconnected regions deep within the brain. It is the portion of the brain in charge of behavioral and emotional reactions. Some common emotions, such as fear, anger, happiness, and love, have been traced back to their roots by scientists.
In this book, we will look at what occurs in our brain when we feel emotions like fear, anger, happiness, and worry, among others.
CHAPTER 1
THE SCIENCE OF EMOTIONS
Emotions, as we all know, are complicated. According to psychologists, we only have six basic emotions: happiness, anger, sadness, fear, surprise, and disgust. The six basic emotions serve as the foundation for all of our other emotions. Jealousy, for example, arises from a combination of wrath and melancholy, whereas pleasure is a sort of happiness. When it comes to emotions, it turns out that each of the six major emotions is related to distinct parts of the brain, specifically the limbic system. Emotions are actually experiences that are related to the activation of specific brain areas.
