    THE INGREDIENTS OF MY LIFE

    I am very happy that you came to honor me by reading what I prepared with great affection. For those who don't know me, I'm Sylvia, creator of the channel Delícia Sem Glúten, a YouTube channel. For those who know me, it's great to have you here sharing another little piece of my story. Even for you who know me through the videos, I separated this part of the book to better introduce myself to you, and the wonderful ingredients (family) that allow me to be who I am.

    I am a pedagogue, graduated in pedagogy from the State University of Santa Catarina and I attended three years of Biological Sciences at the Federal University of SC, in Florianópolis. At the time, I did not complete the biology course, as life was already hectic. I used to teach, but I soon got married and then got pregnant with my first child. And you know: when we have the first child and everything is new, we want to enjoy all the development up close. I'm like that, big mother, silly until today. Giving the first baby food, being close when the baby starts to crawl, holding the little hand until, suddenly, the first step comes out, and then the first words come.

    It's true, they always say daddy first, but I didn't care, I was still silly. Then came high school, what suffering! But, with a little bit, we adapt to everything.

    Going back to my background, I always say that maybe I'm so boring with methods and procedures because of my background. I also understand a little bit what lipids, proteins and carbohydrates are — that's why I always say that you have to follow the recipe without changing anything. Follow the procedures, use a scale, read the recipe without changing it and see if you have time to complete the recipe. It's almost like a lab, true alchemy. But, you also know how satisfying it is to see that recipe that you have perfected turned out to be divine and got a good result! When we receive a compliment, then, it even raises our self-esteem...

    The great motivation for developing this project is the same that makes me invest dedication and time in my courses and in the Delícia Sem Gluten channel, it is simply sharing the knowledge that I have acquired throughout my life. Cooking is already part of my daily life long before the challenge of gluten-free cooking crosses my story.

    I'm from Florianópolis and I love my city. In fact, whoever has the opportunity, I recommend that you visit it. I love the beaches they have here, I'm a nature lover. Another hobby or another passion in my life is orchids, I can't see one that I'm already in love with. My daughter even jokes with me saying: Did you bring another little girl home, mom?. So you can better imagine my passion for these true works of art.

    This year I completed twenty-five years of marriage, and I always had the support and encouragement of my husband to carry out the work that I develop on the Delícia Sem Gluten channel . He is proud of each person we manage to help with a recipe, or even with a word of affection and understanding, and we are often moved by some of the stories that are sent to us. My husband is a physics teacher, not physical education, as I always joke. It's physics, no education. So, when I record, I try to be as careful as possible not to convey misconceptions about physics. But, of course, language addiction often wins out.
