About this ebook

To all the lover girl era crushes. To the moment you realize you fancy that boy down the road, high school infatuation, young love. To dancing in your room like you're invincible, enchanted by that smile. To romanticizing the living daylight out of them, eye contact that you can't hold.  To writing them poetry, heart on your sleeve. To buying them roses and putting a face to every love song.

Twenty-One Going on Sixteen - Muskaan Ayesha

    High school lover.

Meeting you was like easing into the climax of a teenage romance: subtle, slow, your eyes that I haven't yet memorized. Like that one song we both loved and your little dance in the car. Like you drove past my house to wave at me, and I missed it like a fleeting moment of regret.

Like gazing up at you for a single second before my voice caught in my throat. Like your smile and the color black on you. Like a sight I'd hold in between my palms. Like trying to rhyme my poems again. Like you're my high school lover and I'm 16 today. Like the sound of your sighs. Like I would let you beat me in my favourite game, and you'd know I didn't play fair.

You are exciting in a way that makes me sing along to old school music in my bedroom. You are nerve wrecking in a way that has my hands sweaty, heart thudding. Like a bundle of dopamine in my lap. Tempting, torturous, I ache to succumb to your warmth. Like Innocence on a cold Friday night, like the Moon hiding behind clouds. Like your pinky promises and those ephemeral
