Chapter 1

For Kim her career success had been even more spectacular than she could ever have dreamed. It was said that she had the Midas touch and all of her clients trusted her instincts implicitly.

Well, nearly all of my clients she thought as she slowly shook her head. The Kaufman account, that was the only blot on what had been a spotless rise to the top.

In the world of advertising only one thing mattered, and that was to always hit the target dead centre. If a client wanted to increase sales then the campaign had to bring in more revenue than marketing estimates would indicate. If the campaign was to raise awareness about the client or their product then realistically it should make theirs a household name. Consistently Kim and her team had fulfilled that vital requirement, they were the team that had taken a failing detergent company that had gained press attention for all the wrong reasons, and they had spun a campaign that had allowed their client to emerge shining and looking squeaky clean from a mess that was verging on jail time and certain bankruptcy. Bad press and rumour had dogged the struggling board of directors, share prices had plummeted, their plunge based on whispers and supposition, the city had lost confidence in the once reputable company, and hands were being metaphorically washed as shares were unloaded.

Kim had called her brightest and best to a meeting with the beleaguered board and a strategy had been decided. The turn-around had been almost instant, and that had established Kim as the most sought-after advertising executive in the country.

My reputation was spotless until Gary managed to fuck up so royally she sighed, the full story was still emerging as facts were established. But one thing that she did know for sure was that it had taken a great deal of sweet talking and placation before old man Kaufman had finally agreed to let her clean up the mess her employee had created.

What am I going to do about you Gary she questioned as she peered through the one-way glass of her office? There he was, lounging at his desk, grinning as though nothing had happened.

Annie’s absolutely right she thought, the guy is creepy.

Annie was up and coming and had the potential to be the very best. That’s if she doesn’t get married or pregnant. So many other bright girls had never reached their full potential because of a nocturnal slip that left them knocked up and wondering which direction to take.

Kim felt a certain closeness to Annie, she wasn’t just another employee, she was a friend. And it doesn’t hurt that she’s so hot she chuckled quietly to herself. That was a character trait that had confused Kim, at least in the beginning. She could never quite explain why she felt such a powerful attraction to other women. She was attracted to men of course, that was normal, but to feel drawn in a similar way to members of the same sex felt, well, unnatural. At first she tried to fight the attraction but more and more often she found herself skimming the pages of very soft-core porn sites. Just to see what it is that turns me on she told herself, she had to make some sense of what was happening to her.
